Til the motor blows...

NBP04TL4ME 06-26-2016 07:26 PM

Curious as to whether or not you have or are going to reach out to Acura and let them know? And then would be curious as to what if anything, they say or do. :dunno:

Even then I see you maybe getting a new Acura or driving the RDX, keeping the TSX, putting a new motor in it, and logging the difference in milage accordingly...

Honestly if be more worried about other things braking, such as serviceable components...

That's awesome!

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, so to speak.

So, now what? Are you going to keep driving her? Or, is it time to try a new adventure?

Congratulations on your accomplishment!

cu2wagon 06-27-2016 08:15 AM

Pretty cool! Keep that odometer spinning (so to speak... Olde Tymers will understand).

The service department at his dealership know him and his TSX so well they'd find an issue before it becomes a problem since he's there so often...

That, but I'm still more afraid of there being another accident...

I nearly hit a deer last month, and two dogs the other week, just a mile apart... Now I know why that old Toyota Highlander was meant to go behind me and didn't pull out ahead of me, he had 10x enough time to, good luck avoiding a dog in the road in a Highlander...

:rip:

justnspace 06-28-2016 08:02 AM

^that doesnt mean; something cant take a shit.... "IF" engine dies, replace with used to keep motoring....
exactly what I did. as in, engine failed, swapped a used one and i'm still here, for less than a brand new car...

rockstar143 06-28-2016 08:09 AM

Don't give up on your cars!!!
Great thread!

rockstar143 06-28-2016 08:19 AM

Just read through the blog...gonna go back and read previous stuff. Excellent writer.
I think Acura/Honda is missing out on a HUGE marketing opportunity here.

I cannot seem to figure out what you drive Justnspace?

I need an engine in that old Camry, but honestly, I just want to sell it, let the monthly reduction in insurance help pay the crazy oil changes in the RDX... It's barely been six weeks and I'm at 20% again...

quit thread hijacking :spanky: :hijack:

I completely agree... I've been following him since about March, through the last 10,000 miles or so... Every time I read his blog, it's like reading a really good book, you just can't stop...

Did you see the "Dueling Acuras" YouTube video he and Tyson made to celebrate Acuras 30th Anniversary back in March?

That was good stuff, I'll say!!!

rockstar143 06-28-2016 08:31 AM

I didn't!

cu2wagon 06-28-2016 09:04 AM

Sooo.... yeah.....

500K. Pretty cool...

I certainty doubt repairs on the TSX will ever exceed the cost of a monthly payment on a new Acura TLX or whatever you would get, plus you're so invested at this point that TSX must be like a second skin...

Happy trails!!!

neuronbob 06-28-2016 11:28 AM

Congrats on the milestone!

Awesome story man!

So the big question is...how soon until we reach the next 500,000 miles?!

Could be the first ever million-mile Acura?!

cu2wagon 06-29-2016 09:14 PM

So after half a million miles of seat time, is there anything you wish would have been done differently in the design or manufacturering of the car? And/or, what did they get exactly right?

For example, I'm firmly convinced the steering wheel audio buttons (volume / channel / source) are in exactly the right place, and that the cruise control button layout is abysmal.

Do you have anything that impresses you or just grinds your gears after all that time?

PS. You're only like 120k miles away from 1,000,000 km! Have you considered switching the odometer to metric and taking a road trip to America's Hat?

Thanks, & that IS the big question. I don't know man... 11.5 years to get here. I'm keeping hope alive. But I'm also working on a back up plan :wish:

Excellent question! I need to think about it for a couple days tho. Nothing jumps out at me at the moment. But I'll give it some thought. My next blog post is going to be a few minute walk around video pointing out wear & tear, bumps and bruises and exactly what you're asking about. I should update over the weekend, so hang tight.

cu2wagon 06-29-2016 11:12 PM

Awesome! I look forward to reading/seeing it!
