1. Yes its a real Cobra (not that it really matters)
2. Yes thats all motor (no power adders)
3. Yes it is loud
4. No it doesnt get good gas mileage (about 12mpg with how I drive it)

It put down 411hp/395 tq, which if 15% is assuming correct (its a 5 speed with a heavy duty trans and a very heavy duty rear end), its making ~ 480hp/465tq at the flywheel. Not bad for 347 cubic inches.

Damn that sounds nice. What's she run in the 1/4? And please tell what you've done engine-wise to get those numbers, if it's not a secret.

1/4 times wont happen until next spring. It has 3.55 gears right now, which are way too tall for this powerband. I have 4.10's that I'll swap in this winter.

I am aiming for mid 11's N/A, and MAYBE eventually throw some nitrous on it for the track only and run close to 10's.

Here's the actual engine mods, but if you're not a "mustang guy" most probably wont make sense. In normal terms its got a built stroker motor (347 cubic inches), heads/intake, custom grind solid roller cam, full exhaust, throttle body/maf, and a bunch of suspension and drivetrain mods.

  • * 10.5:1 compression, Diamond forged pistons, forged crank and rods
  • * Edelbrock Vic 5.0 intake - upper extrude honed, lower port matched, inlet machined to 90mm
  • * Canfield 195 heads (58cc)
  • * Camshaft Innovations solid roller camshaft
  • * Accufab 1 3/4 longtube headers, Accufab 3" h-pipe, 3" Hooker Aerochamber mufflers to dumps
  • * 90mm Cobra MAF, 90mm Accufab TB (fox style swap), 4" intake tubing

Do you know what size stroker engine he has? If I were to guess he probably has a 351 based engine, since the tq is so high.

This is a hell of a job by the OP. Very well done.

It's also pretty impressive that the new 5.0L in the 2011 puts out numbers off the showroom floor that aren't far off these.

I have ~ 50rwhp/50rwtq over the 2011, but when they start adding mods its going to be very interesting.

I raced a guy in a convertible from about a 50mph roll, and I was def pulling away, but not destroying him. He gave me a much better ran than the couple new camaro's have.

If i remember right its a 396 now. His motor is being choked off by what he and the shop think is the intake manifold. Its starving for air up high.

Yeah thats what it sounds like. He's probably got an intake sized for a 302, like a Trickflow Street or GT40.

A 396 with stuff the size of mine would probably be close to 450rwhp, and you can get 500+rwhp out of a 396 with really big stuff.

Did anyone else notice the operator rattle the gear shifter around after it was in neutral? Do people really still do that?

Nice numbers by the way. Is the side exhuast the stock location for thar model year Cobra?

If you tried my transmission you would too. Its VERY notchy and high effort. It doesnt help that my clutch cable is out of adjustment and isnt disengaging entirely. Its probably just a habit, and plus can you imagine if he didnt take it out of gear? Being the shop owner he probably takes no chances.

And the side exhaust is not stock, and actually isnt present anymore. I have stock skirts I just need to have painted. The side exhaust was too restrictive for what I am trying to do.

Just an FYI, stock 95 Cobra's were rated at 240hp/300tq, so I've just about doubled the output with no power adders.
