350z

My sister is looking at getting a new car and she has fallen in love with a 350Z. I don't know much about them, so educate me please!

She is looking in the 04-06 range. Is there anything to stay away from? Known things to be weary of? She really wants a convertible-how is the roadster version?

Thanks!

Z is a great car. The roadster is fun to toss around.

The interior is And feels very cheap. Not terrible though. The 370z very much improved this 100x over.

A friend of mine has had a lot of rear alignment (camber) issues... I believe there was a recall of some sort. Not 100% sure.

does this have a timing chain like most of their other motors? If it does, a timing chain generally does not need to be replaced like a timing belt.

She had a G37S, which is a very similar, but nicer car. Why change? A vert up north will be the suxor.

Oh is it in the genetics to need the new car? sorry had to give you the poke in the ribs

synth had his all modded out before he sold it, I am sure he would be a great source

My friend's 03 350Z has the aforementioned camber issues and the synchros complain when he tries to downshift before the tranny is all warmed up. I believe they fixed the synchro issue in 05 or 06, though I'm not sure if they ever fixed the camber problem.

get an 07 if possible. The HR engine is more powerful and doesn't have the potential oil consumption issues the 03-06's had.

I believe it is chain driven.

Most of the VQ engines burn some oil. Not a lot, but some. Every VQ engine I have owned and I'm on #4 have burned a little.

Depends on what youre going for.

The G coupe are longer...not made for the track like the Z...specially the new 370z since it went even smaller (a nice change of pace for the way car growth has been managing generation changes)

Top that off...the G35C is still WAAAY better than the G37...its like the designers made the most awesome car first...then followed it up with what looks like it might have been the first gen design.

I do not like the G37 coupe...step in the wrong direction.

^^^^

Agree.

In some ways I still like the G35C more than the G37.

Ha, no, her lease is up, so she is wanting something a bit cheaper.

She has found an 04 with 50k miles. Very clean car, just an auto. I hear that the auto is ok-is this true?

yeah my friend's 03 Z went thru 3 transmissions in 6 months because they kept giving him ones with bad synchros.
