Supercharging/modifying a Corvette is not like modifying a BRZ or Mustang (ie. the infamous "Corvette Tax"). A supercharger package is 10K+ installed, and that's money down the drain you never get back. A Rolex is an investment. Remind me again why some of you are even in my build thread??? I can't even post pics in my own build thread of my car(s) or whatever without some idiot making a snide remark. So ridiculous.

Forbes is calling you a big dummy.
The best you could say about making money off buying a new Rolex or Patek Philippe, is that if are able to acquire a very special or rare model today, your children or grandchildren might have a chance of making a healthy profit at auction in the distant future.

Thanks. That was my point. That Forbes article is silly. Who buys a Rolex to make money? It just something many people in my profession have and something you look forward to earning after going through 13 years of school/internship/residency/fellowship all after 4 yrs of college.

the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
It's a shame you shrugged off his article, though, because the article actually gave your post some merit.
Of course this is not the universally the case, but if I was your investment adviser, I would say stick with watches for wearing not anticipating. Let me address the two main “exceptions to the rule,” Rolex and Patek Philippe. For whatever reason these two powerful brands have been able to claim at least solid “value retention” for their products. This means that if you buy a new Rolex or Patek Philippe watch today, chances are you won’t lose much or any money if you sell it a few years from now. There is a healthy auction market for vintage Rolex and Patek Philippe watches.

Rick, Rick, Rick....
Re-read my original post. I'm using the word "investment" loosely. How much do you get back on the $10-12K you just spent on a C6 LSx Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger kit w/ install/fuel return upgrade/dyno tune? I highlighted "to make money" and quoted achenator for a reason.
Sometimes an "investment" means more than the relative definition of the term.
Rick, my exact words are "you think you know everything but know nothing." Thanks for pulling the Websters definition of investment. You're so smart man; I hope that makes you feel better.

Just because I do well for myself doesn't mean I have to blow my money on crap and bad investments.

Maybe if you didn't sound like a dumb ass/asshat every time you talked and didn't contradict yourself at every turn there wouldn't be so many problems.

It's comical to see the same people, threat after thread, get wrapped up in so much arm chair drama. Perhaps the moderators should consider cleaning the place up and start giving these miserable f*cks the boot.
OP, I just want to see some new pics.

That said... I haven't been on much lately and it appears this kind of blew up.
At this point, let's just cut it out and leave 2k2Silver alone. It's obvious several of you do not like him. It's obvious he does not like several of you. You'll just need to agree to disagree here and move on. This thread was setup as a build thread, but it is his thread... so if he wants to post other things, it is what it is. You guys know what is in here... so if you don't like it... just stay out of the thread.
Any insults lobbed at any particular folks past this post will get a week off. We can't ban for opinions or for people not getting along... but we need to cut down on the personal attacks.

That's a tough one. On the one hand you want people to get to experience things everyone else takes for granted, like driving a car... on the other, cars a two ton death machines and I don't know if someone who isn't 100% capable to drive should ever be behind the wheel with other people around. This could have ended a lot worse, luckily cars aren't THAT important.

From the article: "According to an eyewitness, the person responsible for the crash had special needs and walked away with no fines or charges for the damage caused."
