2017 Ford Explorer Sport
Decided to bite the bullet and get the minivan.
2006 Toyota Sienna XLE Pkg5 (leather and some other stuff)
With the sales tax increase in NJ taking effect this weekend and the fact that we desperately needed new tires on the Altima, I figured why the hell not.
Got it at a dealer in PA (Team Toyota in Langhorne).
Arctic Frost with gray leather - I think the picture below is an LE but you get the idea. I'm sure no one really wants to see the pics of my minivan.
Sorry too lazy to take pics of my ride but here's basically what it looks like from the inside.
Drives great. Leather is top notch. Feels like a Lexus.

Good question.
1 - Honda sales sucks - I knew more about the van than they did
2 - Financing sucked - I got 3.9% for 60 mos from Toyota
3 - Discount on the vehicle was an insult - I think they took $2K off
4 - To get the power rear lift gate (wife necessity) you had to get the Touring model which brought the price up significantly (I don't need 17" wheels on a minivan).

Your really picking hairs on the two anyway. Sounds like you made the best decesion for your situation.
Weren't you interested in the Sedona at one point? What happened there?

The price difference was significant between the XLE and the Touring as it should be.
The only thing I think I would have liked was memory seats but I've never had them before. I'll deal.
The Sedona was a joke. Same with the Chrysler. If your only basis is price and you have no taste then they are definitely a good choice. We drove the Town and Country first and was not impressed at all. Lot's of bells and whistles but it was as bland as baloney on white bread. We didn't even waste time driving the Sedona.

Yeah Team Toyota was amazing.
Saved ~$300 on sales tax by buying this week.
Car lists at $34K
Dealer came back with $30,200
Gave us the extended warranty for $900 (7yr/100K)
They screwed up and gave us 3.9% financing for 60 months (was supposed to be 4.9%)
After the deal was negotiated I pulled out the "Oh I forgot I have a trade"
They gave us $8300 for an 03 Altima 2.5S with 78,000 and bald tires. I was truly shocked when they came back with that number.

One cool thing I found out was that the dealer can install a power sunroof. I thought they were kidding at first.
They use this laser tool to cut the roof and install it. It comes with a lifetime warranty. And they said they could install front and rear sunroofs if we wanted. I'd love to have the panoramic roof of the Quest.

Nice. I rode in a Sienna rental and we crammed all kinds of chillens and adults in it comfortably.
Could get used to the automatic door though. Im so used to swinging my weight to get the door of my Dad's old caravan to close

Very nice!!! $30K?!?! That is awesome. And I also did not know that the dealer could install a power sunroof.
We test drove a current gen Sienna when it first came out (XLE AWD) and the wife/I felt as though we were driving a Lexus. As nice as the Odyssey Touring is, the Sienna felt much nicer.

I was going to put my Racing Hart C2s on the van this weekend and see if the wife noticed.
I did just order body color mudguards if that counts as a performance item.

Looks like you got a good deal!
That was a good choice of minivan. It rides a little softer and floatier than the Ody, but the tradeoff is a more comfortable ride (which is generally desireable for passengers in a minivan).
I've ridden in the XLE and it was a nice experience.

Thanks for the advice about the Sedona. It looks REALLY good on paper.

Here is the "word on the street"
Toyota Sienna Hybrid to be first hybrid minivan on the market
Est. Release Date: 2007
What we know: Sienna hybrid will be based on the smaller Estima minivan currently sold only in Japan. Toyota may not make the estimated 40mpg Estima available in the U.S. for fear of brand competition with the larger Sienna, but Sienna will use Estima’s technology.

2007 Toyota Sienna Hybrid Minivan:
A larger version of Estima is Sienna marketed in US and Europe by Toyota. Sienna hybrid will be the first hybrid minivan available in US market. The exact date for the launch is not specified by Toyota but it is most likely going to be introduced in 2007. 2007 Toyota Sienna Hybrid Minivan will have 2.4 liter, four-cylinder engine. The hybrid engine will be very likely similar to Highlander or Lexus Hybrid SUVs. The engine will deliver 270 hp of power and will come with an acceleration of 0-60 km/hour in 8 seconds.

Well.... it is. I still have the TL. It's not a bad vehicle to be cruising around in.

Congrats on the purchase. I hear the Siennas are nice vans but I do have a soft spot for the Odyssey. But if the Honda sales force are jerks, then they don't deserve your business.
Q: Does the XLE Sienna come with run-flats? In Canada, the 2006 AWD models come with Dunlop runflats. From what I read, replacement tires cost a pretty penny. In 2005, the XLE models came with runflats ... I discouraged a family friend due to the maintenance cost to replace runflats after 50,000km !!! (A friend up in Toronto with a '05 Sienna had to change tires and he almost had a heart attack)

Sitting in and driving it ( ) can change everything!
Apparently for you just sitting in it was enough to turn you away. I can't say I'm surprised. It has no appeal texturally or design wise IMO.

sweet deal neil, nice move on the i forgot the trade move. a word of advice about the power sunroof. the dealers do not do the sunroof install on site, they 'outsource' it to someone who does auto upholstery usually, and markup the price on there--its the same place that would install leather on a car that does not come with it from the factory, ie an LX accord. the guy who did my interior in elizabeth does like 10 sunroofs a day, and they are all power and also the go into the roof, not on top like some do. the guy gest dealer cars from all over the area, and hooks me up pretty good. if you want to take a look at his setup, let me know. im sure it will be the same deal, just cheaper. (the sunroofs they use are not OEM, but usually by a company named hebasto). good luck with the new van!

Nice choice, the wife has been nagging me that she wants a minivan as opposed to an SUV because of the easier passenger access, I keep telling her that when Toyota brings the Alphard to the states THEN she can have a minivan... Although if I had to get a MV today I would definitely go for the Sienna.

My brother has one, along with an 05 RL.
The wife drives it and its up in a year (had one of the first cars).
She actually can't stand being seen in it anymore, although its been an excellent vehicle if you need that type of thing.
In my opinion, for the wife its ok......but once a guy get's relegated to driving a MV.
Your nuts have officially left town.

Congrats on the great deal on a great minivan.
My wife is deperately fighting the minivan purchase. She'd rather get a bigger SUV. However, when the time comes to purchase, $$$ talks and you sure get a whole heckuva lot more minivan than SUV.
It's funny, but the new Ody is the unofficial official minivan of our neighborhood. There are a ton of them already- most in white!
Good luck with the Sienna....
My brother's ex-wife has a '98 that is still doing very well. He's got the RX350....who got the better divorce attorney there?

Cool. I've always liked the Toyota minivans more than the Hondas.
With this van, you won't have to worry about transmission problems. The Aisin-Warner units on these vans are near bulletproof if you service the unit regularly. OTOH, you'll need to change the oil/filter every 3K on this 3MZ-FE engine if you want it to stay sparkling clean when used for short trips.
