I drive a Subata.

Both are good cars. If the pricing is the same, I would go with the EVO.

I would go and test drive both and see what you like more. The subie has the more advanced AWD system and higher quality interior. The EVO has a better engine and reliability and IMHO looks better too.
The Subie is manual and the EVO is Auto correct (DCT to be more specific)? That might factor into what you think could handle more abuse and bolt ons and tuning....etc.

Bro, sounds to me like you really don't know much about either car. I suggest you do some in depth reading into each one and not just blatantly select something based on what a forum that has zero association with either car says.

Judging by some of the Evos I see around here, there is extensive aftermarket support for them. I've also never heard any issues regarding the transmission being able to handle more power. I could be wrong but it sounds kind of made up and unsubstantiated.
Do you want a car that has an oversteer bias or understeer bias? Both cars have vastly different AWD systems that give different results. Don't just go with oversteer because some cuck on some forum said it's best... is it really best for you? Things to consider...
Both interiors are vastly different, with the Evo looking like it was built in 1994.
Both have cult followings with die hard fans supporting either platform. You'll hear lots of pros and cons for each it's simply up to you to figure out what will work for you.

When did Acura start making Evo's or WRX's

Go on EVO forums and see what people have been able to do with the DCT, I drove a 2012 EVO MR and it was the funnest and fastest thing I ever drove. My friend just bought it and it was tuned by the dealer, not sure how much power it makes but it was ridiculously fast and effortless. I meant the EVO makes 300HP from the factory, I'm sure the DCT was beefed up for that.

Also, IIRC, the EVO was available with a manual, but only a 5MT.
I'd go STi at those year models, but back in the Evo IX or VIII era, Evo for sure.

OP: You really can't go wrong with either.
I would highly recommend putting the occasional Monster Energy drink in the gas tank, referring your friends as "bro" to minimize misfires, and MOST importantly, by a mile .. always turn off the traction control for maximum 4 wheel drifts.

Don't forget your wide brim Fox Racing hat, and your white frame Oakleys as well.

There won't be a lack of aftermarket support for the Evo! Most companies who make parts for one, offer something for the other.
Cobb is a great example of this! Looking at just their parts alone, they have enough stuff to build a monster out of either of these cars. From upgraded turbos, to exhausts, and big injectors; it's all there!
Subarus are prone to oil pan and head gasket leaks, and from what I've seen Evos are prone to wiring issues. A family friend bought an Evo 10 brand new from the dealer back when they were still in production. Every warning light on the dash would come on about once a week, and she would need to bring it back to the dealer to have them shut off. The problem got so bad they actually ended up taking the car back. In addition to that, a friend of mine had bought an Evo 9 second hand. (It was lightly modded, but nothing too crazy.) The car ran great, but he eventually lost all of his interior lighting. From the radio to the foot wells, door panels, and the overhead lights; it was all gone. The issue goes unresolved as of today since it has roughly 550 awhp now, and he'd rather spend the money else where, but it's the second Evo I've personally seen with wiring troubles.
With that being said, pretty much every car will have it's faults so the only way to figure out what you really want is to get out and drive it! No matter what you choose, we've got all your aftermarket needs covered!

Haters continue to hate. My stage 2 WRX was fun and I never had an energy drink in my life. Miss that car..

All jokes aside, WRX / Evos are great cars ... but I've never been a fan of their interiors or their insurance rates.
What does Stage II entail? Stock turbo w/ downpipes / exhauts work / tune?

RLX SH AWD with upgraded tires.
EVO and STI were lucky that Acura did not introduce RLX SHAWD at the time, or WRC would have had a very different history.

While I prefer the STI, given how you're approaching this, I would tell you to get an Evo, preferably the GSR. Before the inevitable "muh ringlands" thread pops up
btw the 2015 Evos don't have Recaros
