I attended the Long Beach Grand Prix this past weekend and wanted to share the photos I took. I understand many of the shots look similar, but it's very difficult to find spots to take pictures without being obstructed by people or the fences they have up everywhere. Where you near where that pile up occurred on the restart by turn 4?

If you recall the turn sequence, the turn before the accident is where the Long Beach Aquarium fountain is located. I was near that turn when it happened. Unfortunately the turn where accident occurred is a very hard place to get any shots because it's along the edge of the track where there really isn't any spectator access.

At approx. lap 25 is when my buddy and I began walking the course to take pictures during the entire race rather than sitting in the stands and being squished the whole time because it's so crowded. We walked around the entire course from that point forward, just taking pictures.

Great thru the fence pic's. The last dozen or so pic's are those the sports car class?
Those are the best looking race cars there.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. I love taking action shots which is probably why I also love taking pictures at air shows. I'm considering buying a photopass next year to get unobstructed views, but we'll see what happens next year.

So they have a bunch of different races over the weekend. Immediately after the main race on Sunday was the "Pirelli World Challenge Race" and from what I was told, it is a bunch of production cars, heavily modified for racing. Although this race occurred last weekend, it looks like it is going air on NBC tomorrow: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/...s-network.html

Raskal, you live in Fontana? I used to spend a lot of time there when my brother ran California Speedway back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Lots of great memories in SoCal. Nice pics, thanks!

Yup, we moved here a little less than 4 years ago. We're directly north of Auto Club Speedway (aka California Speedway).

I got too stuck on the headlights. I was looking at pictures of McLarens, and I didn't see a notch in the headlights like your picture. Except, now everyone I look at, I can see it. Thanks.


I guess this is no real surprise to me since I saw one the other day on the street, and spent a solid 20 seconds trying to figure out what it was.
