Three beautiful FRS.

Two guys own the 86 shop called AutoTuned. I got my coilovers installed there.

That other guy is Ken Gushi, he's a pro drifter.

A lot more pics and story in this link below:

Nice!

Ken Gushi's shop is a few minutes from my place. I've been meaning to stop by and ask if he has a pressure smoker to hunt down an elusive EVAP leak.

Yeah, the red one is very awesome in person. That car has the Jackson Racing Supercharger. The front fenders are called Victory Function or something, it's a widebody fender.

Yellow car owner and Red car owner are actually brothers. They both own that AutoTuned shop. The windshield banner is to rep their shop I believe. haha

I don't like the banner either though.

Went for a nice drive up to Angeles Crest Highway yesterday morning.

A couple of my friends and I met up at the bottom of the mountain around 7:30am. We had four cars, but that FRS friend wanted to ride a shotgun. His car is basically all stock except the Jackson Racing Supercharger. He wanted to buy the same set of wheels and tires as mine so wanted to feel the difference in car.

This time we went even more into the mountain. Drove around 130 miles.

AND on the way back, we took a detour and hit Big Tujunga Road........ It was my first time out on that road and WOW.. it's like a canyon track. Super smooth road, no cars even we were there around noon, and very, very fast. Some of the turns, I was taking them around 90 and I wasn't pushing that hard. The road is that big and smooth, almost all turns are big sweepers.

So you friend's FRS... first mod is the SC?

I like the way he thinks and he is wise to not drive SC FRS with the Prius tires.

Yeah, his one and only mod is the JR SC. hahaha

He has gone up the canyon with me before. He didn't understand how I was able to get to the destination like 5-10 minutes earlier when my engine is completely stock. haha

The grip level difference between the stock FRS tire (Prius) and Hankook R-S3 is just insane. I'm sure it makes at least 7 second difference at a good sized track.

The stock FRS tire really hampers the performance of a stock FRS.

It's like how turbocharged cars get a tune for $600 to unlock the power without any modification.

I tell all my FRS/BRZ friends that as soon as they get their car, they need to spend $500-600 to swap out the tires. That unlock enormous amount of grip for the car. This chassis is built to handle a lot more power and grip.

Move to socal in the future!

That S2K has some nice set up! He has a GT wing too, but only install for the track days. He can't push it too much on the canyon without the wing. haha

I'm not sure if you've read or tried them. But I've had a good amount of tires...
Dennis TLDude recommended the Sumitomo HTR Z3 and let me tell you...even when I try...I cannot get the car to go sideways...even in the rain (within reason..duh). They were pretty cheap too...

I don't know how much he is putting down with the SC but with the added instant torque, i dont think 235 is wide enough from coming out of the corner.

I run 245/40/17. I told him to get 255/40/17 RS3s. That should be good enough.

Shoot, anyone could benefit from that though...momentum alone makes up for the lack of self reliant torque.

Oh yeah, I went from 215 Prius tires to 245 RS3. I was shocked how differently it drove.

Less liveable, 1000 times more grip.

Oh, most definitely, yes.

The car literally has one thing going at the track without any power mods, it's the momentum. The balanced chassis let you throw the car in the turn at high speed and hold the line.

And once it's either supercharged or turbocharged with anywhere from 250-280 whp, it gets the momentum + power in the straights.

For DDing the car, the wider and sticker tires make it so much more fun. The car just hooks and shoots around the corners in the street and the freeway becomes a track...

So I found an alternative way to lower the seating position even more without getting an aftermarket bucketseat.

Stretching the springs underneath the stock seat cushions. This apparently gives me around 1-2 extra inch headroom.

This will allow me to tilt and move my head with my helmet on! And I'll keep my butt warmer with my lovely stock seats!

How do you evenly stretch them? Pry bar?
No residual effect with the foam/leather breaking down early or collapsing into itself long term?

I wouldn't do it!

Elbow grease according to a lot of people who have done it already. It's just a slight stretch. Frees up about 3 cm headroom which is all people usually need.

I don't want to lose the ass warmer. This should be the best I can do without getting an aftermarket bucket seat.

I can pick up a stock drivers seat for like $2-300 easy.
