I just checked directions on Google Maps and it's 181 miles away from my location in SD - I plan on driving the car there and back.

I'll be performing some preventative maintenance before 4/5, car is approaching 120,000 miles and I'd like to preserve it's mechanical health as much as possible .

Valve Adjustment
DOT4 Brake fluid
Coolant flush
Fresh 10w30 w/ oil stabilizer
Clean air filter

and come track time, plenty of blue tape

Any other recommendations? My tires are relatively new and brakes feel solid.

That's a lot of driving for one day. I'd recommend staying nearby either the night before, or the night after the event. I'll be staying in Indio the night before the event.

We have this track prep topic over at FT86 forum. Check it out.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25485

I'm like 179 miles away from the track. I'll probably be leaving at 5AM in the morning.

I'll ask my wife if I can go the night before.

It is pretty good amount. LOL Didn't really think about it before. I was going to drive there in the early morning. Track it. Then come right back home.

Gonna ask my wife today.

Both of you got me checking on the actual miles on Google from my place. It's 162 miles, roughly 2 hours 25 minutes. For reference, I've done the 1-day thing with Buttonwillow, it's 154 miles, roughly 2 hours 26 minutes. Hmm...maybe I'll do the 1-day thing with Chuckwalla this year to save $80 on the crappy motel.

Yes! I don't think sleeping in Motel 8 won't help us in anyway.

I have a local seller who wants $600 for all these.

Sparco RTT 524 17x8 with 235/45/17 RC1.

Thinking of getting this for track dedicated set.

What do you guys think?

All my track friends are saying it's a really good set up and $600 is cheap as heck.

I think a more street-friendly tire would be more fun. Slick/semi slicks breakaway much quicker than a street tire. It's either grip or zero grip, whereas with something like a UHP summer tire is much more manageable at the limit and a little beyond the limit.

The flip side of the coin is moar grip, better lap times, which is half the fun of tracking a car anyway.

Just my nickel (no pennies up here )

Do eeeet. Those tires look like fun.

When it comes track time, I don't think I'm going to be disappointed in my current wheel & tire setup.

I feel like it just grips grips and grips and is forgiving when it finally does let go.

I don't have any track experience what-so-ever, but I'm curious to see where my times line up with yours.

Tyler,

Looks like we are going to be the twins.

I decided to buy the set that I always wanted.

17x9 +35 Silver RPF1s
245/40/17 RS3 (7/32nd left)

$800

Picking them up tomorrow night.

No more OCD.

17x9 +35 is much harder to get than +45 since Enkei doesn't make 17x9 +35 5x100 bolt pattern.

This size is the sweet spot for 86 cars because only +35s clear the BBK and/or give you extra room for more camber. Most of the hardcore track/auto x guys run this spec on either RPF1s or Weddsport TCs.

I just had this feeling that I would regret it if I don't go with this set up that I had wanted even before buying this car. haha

Just installed Grimmspeed Master Cylinder Brace.

It's amazing how this little thing changes up the car. The brake feels so much firmer. The pedal travels much much less.

The car should have came like this from the factory.

And I got this for $45 used.

I love the weight difference most of all.

I wouldn't doubt my 17x9s are lighter than my old 16x6.5 stocks .

Congrats man! Mount them asap and go for a drive.

Thanks man!

They are on my car! Will take couple pics in a bit.

The car feels completely different. It's insane. My tire size went from 215 to 245.

The steering is much more weighted. When I make the turns on the street, it feels like it's stuck on the line. The limit seems to be much much higher.

But yeah, will do more impression post after the 4/5 track event.

true...also depending on the difference in offset, it widens your wheel base...does help with cornering

am eager to see how you like the lightweight wheels
