The 2008 Volvo V70 is gorgeous!

I was at the Acura dealership the other day - since they are also the dealer for Volvo, I saw the new 2008 V70 and it's totally gorgeous!!! What an improvement over the last model.

Has anyone driven it yet?

I think the rear end is just totally stunning. It is just as good-looking in real life too. The rear lights are supposed to echo those of the V30 (which is another goregous super-model!). Oh, and the overall proportions are so beautiful...

It is much better looking than the new 2008 XC70. I just wished that the V70 would come with AWD... but I guess that would make it even SLOWER than now... LOL

Anyway, I wonder if it's going to be a threat to the A4 Avant? Or even BMW xiT? Perhaps not because they are aiming at different market segments, I guess...

Looks nice, for a wagon. I still don't like the tail lights, though.

Oops! I guess cob3683 made it just before I did!? LOL! Thanks, guy!

BTW, I see that the one in the photos is a T6 with AWD. Apparently American Volvo does NOT feel that Americans need to have that powerful engine and AWD with the V70 so that particular combination (and the manual transmission) will not make it to the States, at least for now... CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT NON-SENSE?

Not a bad looking car at all...just not my cup of tea.

Definitely an improvement over the prior version.

Get use to it, this is the trend that all companies will be following for the next 5-8 years. Sharp angular lines.

Look at what MB will have soon.

If I needed a wagon, the V70 would be on my short list. Volvo has really nice interiors.

My dad just finished a 4 year lease on a V70 and it was pretty crappy from a quality perspective. It drove alright, but there were just way too many problems...

I think the 2008 V70 interior is gorgeous too.... except for that navi screen that sticks out like an after thought! LOL!

Now, Dan Martin, you are absolutely correct about the quality issue - my friend's 2004 V70 was crappy too! LOL! It was such a lemon and they hated it so much.... if only Volvo were more reliable and that they had better resale value.... sigh....

07s (S80s) and 08s (V70s and S80s) do have a very high residual, as their lease programs are very attractive. Also, as per my service advisor, they are not coming back to the dealer for warranty repairs as the previous generations did.

The interior of the new V70 is identical to the S80

Hi Zamo,

I don't even know why I am asking this question - how do you like your S80? By the sound of it, you really like it!!! :-) Please tell us in what ways you like it. I would love to hear your experience!

How long have you had it for, and have you had any trouble with it so far? Basically, my friend's 2004 V70 had a lot of electrical problems - nothing major, but just many little electrical things that really were very annoying. I am glad that the more recent models are much better now.

The car is great. Seats are very comfortable, the ride is good (sport package has 3 settings: comfort, sport, advanced), good handling, audio system sounds pretty good (i do not have the Dynaudio option though) and of course, I feel confident in a car with the highest safety ranking.

I had it for 6 months already, and the only issue i had was the trunk button which was replaced by the dealer. Other than that the car is flawless.

Warranty is key; I do not want to imagine a car like this 4 years down the road with no warranty. Just too many electronics, even the audio system is all fiber optics.

Right, it goes up and down. I don't have the option, but the Volvo folks say it is in a great position as you pretty much don't turn your head down when driving.
