2006 RS4 limited audience media event! Pics and info.
4.2L FSI V8 (FSI is fuel stratified injection technology as used in LeMans-winning R8 cars), 420hp and lightweight aluminum components and body panels to optimise power to weight ratio. This will be the first Audi to have a normally aspirated engine making the magical 100hp/liter number.
Only 5 people from the US were invited to the event, including representatives from audiworld and Quattro Club of North America. Unconfirmed but inside sources say the sedan WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE US (otherwise Audi would not have invited Audiworld and quattro club north america). More details on audiworld: http://www.audiworld.com/news/05/022105/
I think I just creamed in my pants as a long time audi fan. As soon as I saw this, I drove over to my dealer at Fletcher Jones downtown and luckily got first in line for one. It's not officially official in the US yet but the dealer took my deposit anyway for $2500. Greedy bastages

b5 (2000-2003) audi rs4 = 380hp from 2.7 liter biturbo engine.
that was one of my favorite cars. only got to see it once, because those greddy germans only want to keep it for them selves.
but this new rs4 is crazy. they should have the avant version too. i hope.

The avant will be for europe only. The US will only get the sedan for now. I'm not picky... I'll take one in any shape or form I can get.
btw, the main difference between the S4's 4.2L and the RS4's 4.2L is FSI (fuel-stratified injection). It's audi's fancy way of generating more power and/or improving fuel efficiency. Think of it as direct-injection as found on TDI diesel engines except modified for gasoline-engine application. Another difference between the S4 and RS4 is power to weight ratio. The S4 has 340 hp and weighs 3800+ lbs. while the RS4 has 420hp and weighs roughly 3600 lbs. Still a bit porky but basically the same power-to-weight ratio as an E60 M5, and much better than the out-going RS6 which was good for a 0-60 sprint in 4.5 secs. Lastly, the RS4 will likely cost $20K more than an S4 due to extremely limited production by Quattro GmbH and like the RS6, only a select few dealerships will be able to service it.

I bet all those cars are jealous of the TSX though

on to the next one...
This might be slightly off topic, but does anyone know if the new A8 will be made into an S8 at anytime?
I have done some searching and haven't really found anything on it.
Thanks.

According to an inside source who posts on audiworld, and this person was 100% correct about the RS4 when he first posted rumors about it, the S8 is in fact in development and definitely a high priority for Audi to put in production near the end of the chassis' life cycle. Whether it will make it across the pond is the bigger question. Neither an RS model or an Avant version is in the plans for the Audi's flagship sedan since it is limited to A4 and A6 platforms for now, but so far, Audi intends to produce an S8 short-wheelbase sedan that will have a modified version of the Gallardo V10 engine, possibly an FSI version with roughly 500hp with more refinement and better fuel efficiency than the high-strung version found in the Gallardo. Another but less likely possibility (due to its weight) is an FSI version of the W-12 engine currently found in the A8L 6.0 and the VW Phaeton.

I'm digging those seats and that Lambo steering wheel, but why (with all the technology advancement, in phones especially) do they have a Nokia that old in the holder? That's weak.

I think that would be my top runner for fast luxury sedans if I were in need of one.
