2006 A4 Review on Edmunds

I didn't know it was just a refresh The 2.0T FSI sounds nice.

http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadt...irstdrive.1g.*

The current A4 is one of the sexiest cars on the road IMO. I don't think this is an improvement, but either this is a good picture or I'm just getting used to the schnoz because I think it looks good.

If only they can make them better....

I don't think it's the schnoz, it's the odd dip in the headlights. It would've looked like a cute little A8 if Audi had just added the new schnoz and nothing else.

Eh...they still need a turbo to make power for a 4-cylinder and that 3.2L FSI V6 still doesn't make as much power and only a handful of lb-ft more torque than the 3.2L V6 in the TL.

Not impressed.

Well the I-4 doesn't rev as high at the RSX for more useable power, and makes an extra 41 ft-lbs of torque. I'd say it's worth it and the right move.

There's also a couple of other key notes:

All A4s to the US will have Quattro.
All A4s to the US will have 6-speeds, manual or automatic.

Very interesting.

it looks like they pretty much stayed put with the interior.

I posted this in the other A4 thread. While quite nice, this tarted-up VW is too heavy and getting a bit too expensive.

I like it....

The A4 was my first choice before I purchased my 04 TL (TSX was my other car option). I had to give up my TL though for financial reasons.

I'm definately looking to save again.

well they realized torque is very important, espeically in cars that are 3000lb+, which you can never get from a small 4banger its better than leaving it as a torqueless wonder

Lookes the trend is to have a big grill. I do not like that trend, looks the radiator is more vulnerable to damage. Plus it is fugly.

The grill while ugly IMHO in the picture will probably look even worse when coupled with a USA license plate. Definitely a step back from the highly attractive current A4 which as jcg878 said is "one of the sexiest cars on the road".

Didn't even think of that - I always see them here with the small front Swiss plate. It would probably be best with no plate at all - but that's a in many states.

You mean like your BMW 325?

330xi but a 325 still has more torque than let say..a K24 and transfers it more efficeintly to the ground through let say the wheels behind the driver partly explains how a 30hp disadvantage still gives better acceleration times all around

Don't you ever get tired of typing the same thing over and over? Or do you have a canned response saved somewhere on your PC?

I'm more excited about the A3. Should be a great combo with the 2.0FSI.

12.5-to-1 compression ratio
For the V6.

That 60 hp yields a .5 sec gain 0-60.

Amazing how AHC so rarely has to resort to things like 12.5:1 compression to get such ponies out of an engine.

Barely more torque. And it doesn't exactly make the K24 a torqueless wonder unless the BMW is too.

I'm sure that a K24 engine hooked to a rear wheel drive platform would outshine even your beloved BMW 2.5 I-6 in the acceleration categories. Too bad Honda refuses to do that.

I've deducted that there is a 63% chance that gilboman is not a person, but a computer program. Perhaps in gilboman 2.0 they'll introduce capitalization

The V6 is a bit lack luster. I'm just clad they found a way to get the compression ratio up without detonation.

If you believe it. I'm not sure I do. 12.5:1 is a leaded, ethyl gasoline compression ratio. Bet if you punch that thing in a highish gear . . . . p i n g.

Read on how they do it. It's only due to the Direct Injection technology.
