1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 with....
I would assume by the level of detail about how the transaction will work that this dealer knows how to ebay.
I assume it is being sold because it is ready for classic plates. I wonder why they don't keep it for a few more years then sell it at a real classic car auction. If the condition is true, then it is basically a perfect collector's car.

Interesting. Seems to be a nice car. I can't help but wonder, however, if the car was purchased with the intention of preserving it, then why the most anemic engine offered. It has the base 155 hp 305, and not the more desirable HO or FI.

Remember the father/son matching IROCs at Barrett-Jackson, Terry? I just never imagined people would buy them for investment purposes.
As for the L69, can't say.

1985 is best known by Camaro aficionados as the year the IROC first made its appearance. Named after the International Race of Champions, it certainly lived up to its moniker. Both the Z28 and the IROC had a Tuned Port Injection (TPI) version of the engine that was rated at 215 horsepower. The 5.0 HO engine also had a hotter camshaft and a larger exhaust system. Ironically, this engine was available only on the automatic. However, you could opt for the L69 H.O. engine, which only came with the 5-speed manual tranny and produced 190 hp at 4,800 rpm and 240 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm.Production of this engine was restricted about halfway through the year. Although you did lose a very small amount of horsepower and torque with the H.O., it was well worth it to get the 5-speed. Besides, the horsepower could be overcome with ease by adding headers and a good exahust. The L69 in 1985 was available only in the IROC. New 16-by-8-inch all-aluminum wheels sporting 245/50VR16 Goodyear Gatorback tires, the ride was lowered by a half-inch, and the addition of the foglamps made sure that if you saw the IROC from the front, you new at that moment that you were seeing an IROC.
Chevrolet also changed ten of the twelve exterior colors from 1984. Other external changes included new front fascias, taillamps, air dams, grilles, and parking lamps, although these changes were very minor and mostly not noticeable to the untrained eye. The IROC was honored as one of Car and Driver's Ten Best for 1985.

I think that particular generation of Camaro will be more desirable in a few years. There are many reproduction parts now being made for them. If anyone ever comes across a 1LE equipped Camaro from that generation, snap it up. Or let me know about it.

Getting a third gen is on my radar, I toyed around with getting one about ten years ago and putting in a complete fourth gen interior, including dash. Don't know if anyone ever got the dash curvature sorted out or not.
My best friend in high school had an RS (yeah, the weak-sister V6). Back then we thought it was it was the shiznit - funny how cheesy they look now. A lot of good times were had in that car...
wow, that is a very nice 3rd gen. The steel grey paint looks incredible on it. The dash is a big improvement, always liked the T/A dash a little more than the Camaro's. Still has the blocky door panels with the screws showing though
jk. That is awesome.

I had an '87 IROC through my last two years of high school. Loved that car, even though it left me stranded a few times because of mechanical issues. One day I shall own another IROC
My dad went through two RS's and two IROC's, the last one being the one that made it to me. It's too bad the first IROC was wrecked by a train because it had the 5.7L w/ a stick. The replacement was a 5.0 auto.

I remember watching this a few months ago. Is this the same one?

My college room-mate bought a 86 IROC 5.7L 4AT, we also had a lot of great times in his car. Can still vaguely remember going up to see the Amnesty International Concert at the Meadowlands in Jersey. There were ALOT of 3G Camaro's in that parking lot.
I use to work for GSL here in Calgary back in the early 90's (same owner as Edmonton Motors back then) and i remember searching for Camaro's with the 1LE package. There where basically only a handfull of them during a year when searching all of Western Canada and most of those where probably sold orders, so I could see these becoming desirable.
The 1LE cars where actually not well known by many back then and if you did find one now I bet the person wouldnt know what it was unless he was a true 3G enthusiast.
On a side note though, how is the resto going on the Ford. I havent seen any updates lately and im curious how its progressing.
