Unless you plan to put down roots and make babies right away, I think buying a house is a lousy idea. As long as banks like JPMorganChase dump $9B in stupid trades the American economy is going to be suspect. As someone who owns an upside down home I am here to tell you it is the mother of all anchors on your life and career if you can't move because you can't sell.

JB might disagree but I wouldn't buy if I could do it again until I knew the locale of home was a place I was not going to leave under most circumstances.

Definitely no current plans for babies or a house. I'm just talking general saving abilities so that when I'm ready I could afford a house since that will be the next big purchase I make in my life. But yeah, no plans to as of now!

I am not sure of your driving skills, but (per your location) you may also have to factor in the expense of winter wheels and tires.

I'd be Captain Fishtail if I had a big V8 and RWD up north.

Cool

OK so I just got done at the dealer, and they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse!!! I'm probably going to make it official in the morning. So here is the deal, in order to get the spec's I wanted it will be ordered from the factory.

-5.0 coupe
-tech package
-brembo package
-6-speed
-3.55 gears

The only other thing I don't know is what color to get!

Its between:

performance white
deep impact blue

Let me know what you guys think! Will be deciding between now and in the morning. Super excited!!!

Sounds great!!!

Blue is very popular! If you want to be different go white. I'd go Deep Impact Blue though.

Just curious.... If you're ordering from the factory why are you ordering the 3.55 gears? Just a compromise between 3.31 and 3.73?

Yeah I figured the gas savings would be minute between the 3.31 and 3.55, and it would give me the extra fun when I wanted it. So I figured I'd go for a compromise. Hopefully its the right call.

As far as the color, it says white on my slip and is what the dealer will order for me unless I change it for tomorrow. BUT every....damn....time I see the blue I want it...

By the way I saw a 2013 5.0 in that weird purplish blue color today. He peeled out after the stoplight. It looked awful with the dark lights and black trunk. Get black or red or grey.

Have you seen the DIB in person? Make sure you like it.

The white '13 with some black accenting = worthy.

heh, I knew you couldn't resist.

I'd seriously think about getting the Recaros if I were you.

The Recaros are definitely awesome. Given the price I am with my current options I think I'll pass for now. There aren't any good tracks around here anyways so I wouldn't get to use them to their potential. I figured if I had to add anything I'd save some padding for an extended warranty. Even though I hate extended warranties...bleh.

Just be careful with all of that power.. Especially if you've never driven a RWD car before. It handles A LOT different than your SI.

Please don't be the topic of one of those stories we all hear about.

Absolutely,

I've driven RWD before, I'm confident in my driving abilities. I will definitely take my time learn the car before pushing it to full potential. No worries there, its the other million ass-hats on the road I'm worried about.

Like I said, if you can find the right deal, there's money to be made. I also said real estate... so opens it up to more then just a house. It varies from market to market, but here rental market is booming. Many folks we know have purchased short sales/foreclosures (condos, townhomes, etc) for very, very cheap and rent them out to business professionals for 2-4 times their monthly payment (if they even have a mortgage since some are cheap enough to just buy). Most also have long term leases signed. Our goal is to have 2-3 by the end of 2013 ourselves which is what we will be doing once the garage is finished. A couple even bought foreclosed beach homes and just rent them through an agency. They have renters year round. Several others have purchased land which was foreclosed... then flipped it for a tidy profit (we did this a couple years ago, but selling land is tough so we decided to quit while we were ahead). Many many ways to make money in real estate... not just buying a house to live in and hope the value increases while you're living there. If I were him, depending on his area, I'd have a rental property or two. Supplemental income FTW... and if it increases in value at the same time... bonus.

But, I can't disagree with you entirely b/c I do not know your market... so you may be dead on about your area.

That's awesome. Sorry the thread got hijacked with investing talk. You're in good shape over there, so keep on keepin' on.

Oh, and pics when you get it and mod it (yes, you will mod it)...
