V6 accord? Is so, that's the same tranny as my 3.0CL. $2500...

I say you'll have to have it done way more than 5-6 times. This is the second worst transmission known to mankind...

I have a 4 cyliner Accord, 2500 to replace the tranny? Hopefully, chaning the transmission fluid every 30 k will prevent me from replacing it one time

Nah, it's less for the 4cyl and that tranny is ok. You need to do a drain-and-fill every 15K miles. The manual says 30K but thats for a FULL fluid swap. With d-n-f you only change about half.

One time in how many miles 1M?

Usually automatics last about 160k on average some last to 200k. But that's about as good as it gets. Sure some odd ducks will last a bit more, but they are not the norm.

Took a 89 Camry cradle to grave with 350,000+. Great car, spent only about $2K on non-maintenance issues. Such as AC repair. Original clutch, engine, trans, starter etc. At 250K most cars have very low sales value so things start to get problematic. Took a number of cars over 200K and although they may look good and run well anything can go at any time which makes further investment questionable. At least in the north east at some point rust of the body is inevitable.

Good luck my friend...I am trying to do the same thing with my Acura...maybe by the time I get to 1,000,000 miles they will have a new NSX out.

So drain and fill only changes half the transmission fluid? SO next time, I should ask for the transmission flush and replace with whole new transmission fluid?
Hey at least if I rebuild trany 5 times on my way to a million, thats 5 x 1500 = 7500 dollars for tranny rebuild. Thats a whole lot less than buying a new Accord LX these days

I get bored with vehicles to quickly to keep them past 50k miles

Good luck... I guess.

I hope to hang on to my Cruiser for 100,000 miles at least. Im nearly half-way there. The itch to get a new car is there, but then again, it would always be a second car. Nothing Ive seen would make me trade my car in.

I suppose driving a car for more than 3 years is easy if you really love it.

Yeah right...the 4-cyl transmissions have had their own share of problems as well.

No...there is not a single OEM out there that recommends a full fluid swap for automatic transmission. They only recommend draining and refilling (and changing the filter) at specific mileage.

Honda recommends 120K for normal service and 60K for severe service. Interestingly, Honda ATF-Z1 has turned brown in as little as 20K sometimes.

For those smaller sump transmissions (i.e. Hondas and Toyota Aisin-Warner units with 7-8qt capacities), I normally drain and refill ONCE every 20-30K. For the GM units with the (11-13 qt sumps), I normally drain the pan, change the filter, and refill with Dexron-VI every 40-50K.

If you're draining and refilling at least every 30,000 miles, and the fluid is staying cherry red (and isn't smelling burnt), I wouldn't bother with a flush, personally.
