Just gotta love the Z06, but there is more to a car then racing and I'd still take the porsche any day of the week over the Z06. The vette just doesn't have the heritage a porsche does... and the irony of a Z06 owner talking shit about porsche owners who talk shit about Z06's

Not really surprised at the outcome...

The Z06 is a beast. I'd personally take it over the 911 Turbo myself and use some of the rest towards a M5. A Ferrari 430 is another story though.

Hopefully you're a bit sharper when it comes to other subjects....but cars are not one of your strong suits.

Porsche 911 40th Anniv. = 2004

Corvette 40th Anniv. = 1993

That aside, I'll go with the Vette. The 997 Turbo is ugly.

Badge snobs are idiots for the most part and are not car enthusiasts by the true nature of the term.

I'd take either car...but if money was not an option...definitely the 911!!! IMO there is more to a car than simply raw power.

The Vette is impressive though. I'm still tripping on where the country (young) sounding dude finds the funds for that Corvette, who also knows how to operate a video camera, and the upload the video to the internet. What is this world coming to?

High Tech Redneck!

oh no doubt it makes other cars look like they're standing still. the vette has an amazing engine at an amazing price but when i see a car, there are far more things i look at besides raw power. hell, a hyundai tiburon is a good little car for what it's worth and that certainly doesn't have the badge of a BMW or porsche. i have my own reasons for not liking most GM products but i definitely give credit to them when it's deserved, no matter what the badge.

Oh boy...negative e-rep for disagreeing...

So just because someone likes a nice car that makes them a badge snob? Just wondering what formula you use to figure out who is and who isnt a badge snob.

There is a big difference between liking "nice cars" and being a badge snob. I'm someone who likes any car, regardless of manufacturer. I judge a car for what it offers, not what badge it has.

Hell, if a Kia offered a car with the performance and styling of a Z06 for the same or less money money, I'd consider buying it in a heartbeat.

The fact of the matter is that there are many different cars in the market because people have different taste. For me, performance and styling is a priority. For this, you really can't do any better than a Z06 for the money.

Saying shit like, it's just a Chevrolet or GM product means they care about what others think and care more about a badge on the car, more than what it offers.

"Too bad it's still a chevy": What exactly is bad about the Z06 other than the fact it has a badge not up to your standards? It offers more performance than any car anywhere near that price range, it is quite reliable, and offers really attractive styling.

I'll take the vette, thank you. Never did like porsche, they have kept the same basic look of the car for 40 years.

I know what you are saying, and I feel the same way. I just get tired of hearing "badge snobs" when people say one car is bad and one that is more expensive is better. I know that there are tons of people who just like cars because they think they are good because they cost a lot. A lot of people who do not like American cars have been burned in the past and will not go back. I was brought up on foreign cars my entire life, and will probably never own an American car. When I was growing up, the only things that were in the garage were BMW's and Porsches, am I a badge snob? No. A lot of peoples car choices are infleuenced this way, they like what they see their parents driving, and just continue the cycle. Do I think that the ZO6 is a nice car? Yes I do. BUT it would be hard for me to ever own one because of the 'neck that was driving the one in the video. It is that type of person that annoys me to no end.

It's not just the Z06, it's 99% of GM products. Of course this will get turned into "well other car makers aren't good!" yes, i know. we all know. i love horsepower as much as any other guy does but when i drove a new z06 awhile back, i wasn't much impressed with anything other than the explosive engine. the car just felt cheap to me. the ride was very harsh (although part of that problem was our shitty roads in WI), the interior was just short of Playskool plastic, and it really didn't sit well which is the major gripe i have with GM products. no matter what seating position i tried, it was never comfortable and that steering wheel was just enormous. it's only in GM products that i have this problem, not toyotas, not hondas, not mercedes, not bmw's, etc. the awful seating position, the plastic everything, and the harsh ride are all reasons why i didn't like the z06. the only part i really loved was slamming that gas pedal down and watching everything in front of me, go flying away. as far as the engine goes, it's amazing. overall though, without price being an issue, the 911 is the car for me and apparently other people on this board.

Go drive a 07 zo6. Handling is improved and ride is smoother.

Did I say that? No.

As was said perfectly above, when you say things like "oh its still just a Chevy."

That makes you a badge snob. When you are a true car enthusiast you give credit where credit is due.

Chevrolet put the $ where it counts, into performance. While the interior to me isn't bad, its not a dashstroker's delight. Its much improved over the C5, but its not a 997. To be honest, the 996 interior was garbage. Thankfully Porsche addressed the issue with the 997.

Let's also not forget the 997 Turbo is a $120k+ car. So you people can jerk off to the car all you want, you most likely will never have one.

so if a mercedes beat a honda in some test and i said "it's still just a mercedes" would that make me a badge snob? does the car you favor always have to be more expensive to make you a badge snob?i know of plently of cars that cost significantly less than their competitors that i like so does that make me a badge snob for less expensive cars?

What are you talking about?

I made a comment about the Z06 beating cars 3x as expensive.

Then you shot back with "but its still a Chevy."

It was a badge snob comment, there is nothing to read into.

I never said anything bad about favoring a more expensive car. Its a free world, if you like the Bugatti Veyron better than a Z06......that's fine. I myself like the Bugatti Veyron better than the Z06.

I have never been a fan of the 996 or 997. What I jerk off to is a nice example of a 993 C4S or a 993 Turbo.

Work computer won't let me see vid, will when I get home.

Here's a C&D comparo between the Z06, 911 Turbo and F430.

They place the Z06 third, but do mention it's performance is better than the Porsche. Third because it's not as "refined" as the Porsche or sexy as the Ferrari.

Of course they place the 430 first.

BTW...I love the Turbo

Quick Reply: 07 Z06 VS. 07 911 Turbo
