04 Acura MDX office chair

I have been wanting to make a computer chair from a car seat for a long time. I came across a free seat from an 04 MDX, so I finally made it happen. Check out the video below, tell me what you think.

I kind of wish I took one of the seats we blew the air bags off at school.

Not the newest idea as Recaro has been doing it for years. But, it's the first time I've seen DIY deal so, to you, especially as you've retained the powered functions.

I also want to thank the OP for this thread. As the computer chair I'm sitting on at the moment is on its last legs, I think I may have 'realised' a purpose for one of my son's old Altima seats.

Makes me want to rip out one of my Subaru seats (or steal a Volvo seat).

Nice. My girl friend has a driver seat from a 92-95 civic as her chair at work.

I've always thought about making home theater seating out of car seats just like that.

Great mod.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics while I was making it. What I did was measured how high I wanted it to be, Measured how high the seat itself was (including frame) then figured out how much I needed to take off the existing chair. From there I disassembled the old chair, discarded what I didn't need and chopped it down to length. Then I re-welded the top mount on. I then took the frame off the seat and welded it to the top mount of the chair. After that, it was just a matter of bolting the frame back to the seat. The wiring was pretty easy to figure out with a multimeter and some alligator clips. I got lucky and found a 12 volt battery from a surplus store for $5. I will take some pics underneath the chair when I have time.
