Same here. I can't really find anything that sounds that good on a N/A 240. 240s on boost sound totally different. I don't know if I want the Buddy Club exhaust that I posted earlier, I've read that it is un-Godly loud, figures, as there really isn't a muffler.

I want something mellow and deep. Maybe the Apexi Noir?

Anyway...

Today we stripped all of the carpet out and cleaned the floor and everything that the carpet was on top of. I probably have all kinds of lung issues now because of all the dust that was kicked up.

why not a stock muffler with wider diameter piping. should give you a nice tone and set you apart from the crowd of 240's with bent up/slanted mufflers

My friend used to have a 91 SE. He bought one of those ebay exhausts for like $200 shipped, and Im not making this up, it sounded like a Subaru. That car was alot of fun.

Did your friend do the exhaust cam swap? That's what we've done with the KA that's going into this 240SX. Instead of using the stock cam set-up, which has a duration of 240intake/248exhaust, we swapped another exhaust cam in place of the intake cam, giving us 248/248 duration. I've heard it lopes quite nicely and gives a somewhat Subaru soundtrack. Here's a video I found for reference, I was told that the car in the video has the aforementioned cam set-up, I could be wrong though, seems pretty "lopey" to me.

By the way, I also had a header on mine, I believe it was from a company called S&S. Gave me some nice gains and sounded very good, too. Might want to look into it. It was pretty cheap if I recall, too.

Lol single header, not a pair, but yeah, that looks like a pretty decent one. Looks to be equal length. Nice! Hope you win it!

Yeah, I've been coughing all last night and this morning, must have inhaled some mold or something.

I'll be running carpet delete on this car, what can I say? I like the look.

Every little bit helps?

Anyways... I didn't do anything with the 240 today. We went to get the engine and bring it to the shop, realized we only had one motor mount. Looks like we'll be ordering a set or going to the pick n' pull.

UPDATE:

Tonight I ordered some motor mounts and a new front seat. Tomorrow I will be ordering headers, test pipe, cat-back, rear camber kit, and a shift knob.

Sometime this week there will be a major work day to get this thing closer to being finished.

What's wrong with sounding like a Subaru?

OP: Not sounding like you have a fart can on the back is a good thing.

Looks great.

How much cash have you dished out on the project so far? There are a lot of people that would love to do something like this at some point and knowing the cost is always good. Myself being one of those people.

The project will definitely be under $3500 for now. When I do the paint and interior I'm guessing just south of $4500.

I have a good friend who's been doing custom paint work for decades so he was going to give me a good deal. I was going to help with the prep / sanding.

Today we installed the motor, header, and rear camber arms. We cleaned the interior a bit more as well.

Pretty nice fitment on the rear. I'm still working on the front.

^^^ I hate the way the TL's bumpers have different color shades.

I still have to get it painted of course, but I'm happy to see it finally able to move under it's own power.
