Im pretty sure you can use it as a phone only. Kind of useless if your not getting your emails or messaging though.

I was going to ask about the barcode (refurb?) but it looks like that may just be the plastic covering? Also - don't these come with an 8 gig card? Has it been replaced with a 2, or is that extra?

NO, you can not!

all blackberry and smartphones by verizon require to have a data plan
-Verizon just switched their policy on all smartphones to require a data plan!
-Blackberry have always required a data plan

i hope that helps

I've heard there is a Sim Card in the Blackberry Storms! so, you might just want to ask seller if he can find one!

From my understanding you can not use a cdma phone on a gsm network or vice versa. Hence why no one with an iphone is on verizon. But you claim you have done it soo oh well.

the blackberry storm is special from this plan! because they are not using the regular service they use a sim card to operate the phone!

You can use it on GSM... only 2G speed though. This phone has both CDMA and GSM hence why I use it for work and travel.

Not bursting my bubble at all - I have free blackberry from work - data, talk, text, songs, all apps - it's paid for...

I just read the original post for a phone for $200 that you could get for $50 and it didn't say anything about being unlocked so it looks like a lot of money for something that you will need a plan with anyways... even a 1 yr contract is only $119 so if someone was planning on using it on Verizon's network - it makes sense to go new from Verizon... if you are planning on unlocking it and using it with other carriers then G/L

it's like the iphone dude! people buy the iphone at like 400-600 dollars even though you can get it at 200 dollars at the store! people don't want to be hassled with contracts and stuff and some people do not have the options to upgrade their plan yet! so, which make them pay more a phone so they can have it now! i hope that make sense.

And it's nice that your work gave you a free phone but not all works do that!

Is this the 9500 or 9530? I think 9500 can be unlocked and used on gsm but 9530 cannot.

There both 9500 and 9530 can be unblocked to use with at&t or T-mobile with out problem and yes for verizon you need the special BB data plan but wit the other carriers you don't need a plan if you don't use internet...when you unblock the phone its ready to work with GSM just swap the SIM card and go... nice smartphone by the way i have one with verizon.....I love BBs better tham Iphones sometimes...Lol...

This promotion is awesome but it is required to sign new 2yr contract on both phones. Full retail for the BB Storm is $499.99 without contract, so the OP price of $200 is some what reasonable but little bit too hight IMO. I just sold my wife's BB storm with additional accessories for $120 cash on CL. To make everything clear, NOT every Smart phone is required to have a data plan for VZW. Every Blackberry is required to have a data plan but some smartphones are not requried, only smartphones that was launched after Nov, 2008 is required to have a data plan atleast $29.99 or $44.99. So older phones such as Treo, Motorola Q and few other smartphones are not required to have a data plan. Hope this help.

Oh also BB Storm does come with 8GB external memory card as well as SIM card pre-installed since it's a global phone. Which can be unlocked to use to different carrier that used SIM cards. AT&T & T-mobile.

yea you can you just have to get it unlocked. i bought my storm from someone on this forum. he unlocked it for me. in the back, there's a slot for you to insert your sim. you can use it for tmobile and att, but the iphone can't be used with verizon.

Dont let them low ball you. These idiots dont undetsand that for 50 bucks you need a 2 year plan. If you dont want to waste your time go to www.SimplySellular.com
I just sold them my Strom for 143. But 200 is a decent price if you have time to post it on ebay and cl.
