Does it plays mp3?

Not out of the box, but it runs on Symbian software so you can download something like Helix or UltraMP3 (shareware) and you will be good to go.

How about sending emails....is that an added feature/cost in your t-mobile plan?

Yes, there is a shareware player out there. Best to do some research on what this device can/cannot do. There are many sites with loads of info.
