The Sony CDX-M3DI is an incredible player with a gorgeous display--but don't let that distract you from the features of the player.


The CDX-M3DI can play CD, CD-R, CD-RW, plus MP3 files on CD-R or CD-RW. It can control up to five external changers--either CD, MP3 or MiniDisc, and an AUX input lets you add whatever device you want. The sound of this can be adjusted in many ways. It comes with seven preset equalizer curves, or you can tune it yourself with the seven-band custom equalizer. There is even a program that uses phase and frequency alterations to seemingly shift the sound image above the dashboard.


There are crossover controls for the main channels and the subwoofer, with 4-volt preamp outputs. The built-in amplifier produces 23.2 watts (RMS) or 52 watts (peak) into four channels.

Of course, you can't ignore the looks of this system. It uses a TFT high-resolution display similar to that used on laptop computers to give amazing clarity to the images that come with it--including full motion animation and a spectrum analyzer. Everything is adjustable to ensure that you can easily read the important information, such as CD Text and track numbers, and the motorized faceplate is very nice. With so much going for it, the CDX-M3DI is an incredible player.
