J35A8 Short Block (TL-S and RL) - Low miles!

Category: Engine - Complete Motors
Price: $375
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): CL 2G, RL 2G, TL 3G, Type-S Model
Location (State/Prov/Terr): MI
Item Condition: Used

I have a J35A8 short block for sale. Only 20k miles on it!
Came out of a 2007 RL. Mint condition except for the block damage from a right side impact, which pushed the engine mount into the block and snapped off the top part of the casting. It may be repairable, but the internals are fine. Perfect for a 3.2L to 3.5L upgrade! I'd like to sell it complete, but local pick up only. If I can't sell complete, then I will part it out, in which case I can ship the parts via UPS. I have $375 into it and want to get that out of it, which I think is quite reasonable.

If you part it out, put me down for the rods for now...possibly the pistons as well but not sure yet. Thanks!

That block is not repairable. You should definitely part it out and $scrap$ the aluminum block.

I believe the RL came with a J35A3, not a J35A8. I'm not sure on the full compatibility between the two.

The RL came with a J35A8 from 05' to 08'. Rated at 290 hp and 256 lbs-ft. 11:1 compression.

Put me down for the rods ONLY as I will not need the pistons. Again, if parting out the block...

Exhibit A: Stamping on the RL block.

Exhibit B: Receipt for the block (my bad, it's from a 2006 RL, also, additional money I have into this block is fuel from driving down there to pick it up).

Exhibit C: Stamping from another RL engine (2006) I have (complete engine).

I'll PM Ron A to see if he'll do some clean up on your FS thread. The engine is stamped; it's J35A8 whether it came from an RL or from a Yugo.

OP, good job posting pics. Prospective buyers know exactly what they're getting.

It's not a random receipt. It's the one I got when I bought the block. And by the way, Wikipedia has been corrected.

Thanks for the help. The thread is cleaned up.

As long as the block is stamped J35A8, and it is being sold as that, then applicability isn't relevant, but the buyer should be sure he needs J35A8 parts.

Disclaimer: Due to my limited knowledge of engines etc., this is only an advisory post by me.
