Hey these are great and all, I'm not going to bite you here, but can't you just order that same thing from www.grill-tech.com and then cut it to fit our CLs like we always have? That will save you some bucks and then just add to the time it'll take you to cut the material.

I mean you could order their F-150 and cut it to fit ours, put the padding back on and VIOLA! the same thing for 40-50 bucks!

just my .02

De03CLS, you're right, I've been posting and mentioning Grilltech since the first time I posted this group order because they make awesome grills. Their grills cost $50-60 that's true, but they don't have grills for CL 01-03. Everybody is welcome to go buy from them, but i'm here to help people out cuz i got everything measured out, i got the experts hooked up for cutting the grills.

Sure it'll save you $40 if you're willing to go through the trouble i did the very first time I tried customizing the grills, but actually I ended up wasting more money screwing up the grills i tried to cut using a $10 metal cutter. These grills are nothing like the gutter guard type, they're really thick, it hurts your finger through the bones each time you try to snap each link. You need a $1000 metal cutter to do a great job cutting it to shape. The labor for cutting them at an autoshop is costly cus I watched how they did the cutting myself, and they wasted at least 5 expensive blades on each grill, cus these things are real thick. So of course you're free to try to do it yourself if you have the right equipment in your garage. But most people don't and I'm just here to help out daz all.

By the way, I'm expecting the grills to come in this week for the first batch of orders. I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

No they won't, cuz the cl and tl grills designs are completely different. I may do TL grills if there are at least 10 orders, and I don't have a TL to measure around.

Is this still goin on cuz if so I want in. At least for the bottom grill.

Question on the top grill..........I still want all the original chrome showing... the trim, the "A", and the two long chrome pieces on the side of the "A". Is this possible?? If so I'm in for the top grill too

Please let me know

LatinSmoke, yea the group thing is still goin, I'll place the second group order probably the end of next week or something depending on the completion of the first batch. I don't wanna take people's orders and have them wait too long until they receive the actual grills.
Just let me know which style and color you want for the grill part and I'll put you on the next group order list. My email is samconnect@hotmail.com

For the chrome part, I'm not too sure if that'll look good together. You can still put the chrom stuff on there but you might need to shave the pins off the back of the chrome parts and use a bondo to put them on the grill. I used a bumper bondo for my emblem that's sitting on my upper grill, it sticks real strong, it'll probably still be there even if you run your car through a house or something. Another good idea would be to leave the chromies off and get an aftermarket acura emblem with 3M adhesive if you really want the acura emblem be on the grill.

OK, I'm giving in here...I originally was just going to get the stuff from grill-tech, but I think I might just order one here to save the hassle.

What do you guys think the black diamond would look like on a black 03?

I had "silver" gutter guard but I took it off because it kept falling off...

Anyway opinions please!?!?

THANKS!

So decided not gonna to do the grills yourself huh. Hehe, you're always welcome to join the club.
Black is always good on black, you can't go wrong with that, but if you had silver and you like the way it looks on the car, then it's a matter of personal taste.

If anyone who ordered the grills has a satin silver then I would really appreciate seeing a pic after your install.

I would have ordered in a heartbeat except I'm not sure about how the black surround will look against the silver.

BTW, I think these grills with a foglight addition would be the coolest appearance mod.

Thanks for doing the legwork ST2000.

One question I forgot to mention. How do the road lamp grills attach on a 6 speed? Since there's no road lamp there.

I believe for our 6 speeds the grills just cover up the whole opening, as a one piece for each little fake air intake down there.

It would be sweet to have this grill in there, and then run some tubing up to a Comptech Cold Air Box Intake, and have a true to life cold air intake system.

Anyway, that's just my guess

When does the groupbuy end?

The groupbuy never ends, as long as there's a minimum of 5 orders, i'll do it.
I got an 03 and I took off the black housing thing, the inside should be similar to 01-02, you can zip tie the grills to just about anything nearby. I zip tied mine to the little pillar thingy and the corner latch.
For the lower center grill and the side vent grills, they are pretty much straight zip ties, but for the upper grill, some of you may have not played around with it, you'd need to unscrew everything off first, but it's pretty much straight forward too.

Second batch order status update:

Grille-tech was running out of the rubber U-gaskets for the past couple of days, but they just came in yesterday, so they are shipping out before the week's end as they promised. So those of you who wanna be included in this weeks Group order there's still time. I can put you in once I received 50% of the payment due.
For those of you already in the second group order, again I'm sorry for the delay, it should resume as planned now.

Put my upper, & lower on last night. They look good. Couple of things though. The upper was precut too much in each corner. I have a little gap between the grill, & the mesh. Also it's kind thick compared to the gutter guard I had before. It was a bitch to get the grill screwed back on. But it's on. I also cut 2 little holes & put back the Acura emblem.

The lower went on ok. I'm not sure I put it on right. I zip tied each end as close to the gaskets as I could to the factory grill support. So on mine, I only have 1 zip tie on each side. Problem is this makes the grill bend in. I though the grill was supposes to sit flush with the bumper. Still looks good though. I didn't use the side vents yet. I need to dismantle those first. That's the weekend project. I'll try & get a few pics up today.

Yea some people with front license plate have been having the same problem. As nate'sCLS suggested, you may want to take off the rubber gasket and cut the upper part of the grill where the license plate frames sits. That's probably a clean solution to this, or else as i have mentioned before, you could try putting on the front plate without the original huge frame, instead, use the rear plate frame and zip tie it to the grill once you have put the grill. on.

For the lower center grill, I forgot to let you know that you're suppose to bend it in the center so that it could sit nicely in place. I could've done it, but it'd probably get flattened again in the shipping box. I used 4 zip ties for the lower center grill, two of each farthest sides, and two in the center, all are parallel horizontally.
A few adjustments may be necessary for the upper grill installation because I'm basing the template on the diamond style grill, the race style and the diamond have different link pattern, therefore a little part around the screw points may require trimming.

fuzzy, if you have a chance to post up pics of the installed grills that'd be awesome. Yea the upper grill has been the most painful compared to the others. But looks like you did a good job considering you never took the upper grill apart. But it certainly pays to look different, people are always like looking at my grill trying to figure out what car it is. Guessing that it could be a limited edition cl or something. But it's all about personal preference.

Anybody have pics of the lower grill and the side grills?
On a 01-02 CLS?

The "road lamps" are so @#$@$ useless, I like ST2000's idea of taking out the road lamps and putting grills on instead.

umm, the fogs are Hella Micros DE by the way. Since you got a silver car and getting all the silver grills, this shop near my place happen to have the silver hella micros in stock, but they're selling them for like $210, maybe cuz the silver editions are kinda limited.

I got the Hella Micro DE fogs for my setup. I don't sell the fogs but there's this modshop near my place that sells them.

By the way, the grills for the second batch group orders are finally here, i'm getting them diamond-cut tonight. I'll do my best to get them shipped out to you all this friday the latest.

pimpin, my friends don't put the front plate on and they're fine. they're not as strict about it in here in mass. Cops only give you a ticket for it while you're getting pulled over for something else.

Y2K3CL-S: yea I gonna try to take some pics of my car with different grills when i get a chance.

by 1: All the grills parts come with rubber gaskets around them except for the upper grills because they need to go in between the grill frame and the stock grill. However, if you insist to have the upper grill lined with the rubber gasket as well, I can do that too. email me at samconnect@hotmail.com and let me know what you want, I'm placing the third group order tomorrow, you'll be in it once 50% of the payment is completed, otherwise, the fourth group order will be in two weeks or so.
Thanks.
