Carbon fiber hood?
Hi everyone,
Is anyone interested in a carbon fiber hood for their CL? If we can agree on a "style", I know of a place that will do custom CF hoods for under $500, if we purchase in lots of 10 or more. There might be a small discount for larger orders, too.
Please let me know and we can group buy some! =)
Thanks,
Dave

Something functional maybe. Nice and aerodynamic. Maybe you should post up some pics of accord cf hoods and we can get ideas from those.
Dave how possible is it that these hoods get made? Is this more like a shot in the dark or a for sure thing if 10 people are in? Thanks

I'm inquiring about the "purity" of the CF used.
If we get at least 10 people, it is not going to be a problem. The more, the better, though! Hopefully, more people are interested! We haven't hit the 10 person mark yet! =(

I'm kinda new to this mod stuff...but what is the advantage of a carbon fiber hood? Is it more for looks or just something like weight reduction? If so how much lighter is it? Is it painted or left with the carbon fiber look? thnx in advance...

It seems like most people are interested in an OEM style hood, which works out well.
You can choose between 100% us carbon fiber, or spoon spec. The spoon spec CF goes for about $650, the US about $500.
We still need more people to make this happen!

Are we there, yet?
Ok, here's an updated tally:
1. Me
2. Hoffhines
3. 360
4. dcsquirm88
5. onedayzpay
6. Yajarobi420
7. Clean_CL
8. CocoTypeS
9. KCheng
10. OneQwkv6
11. TypeSDragoon
12. SleeperCL
So it looks like we can do it! Is everyone still in? The price is still $500 for the US spec carbon fiber, and I think it was $650 for the spoon spec. Please tell me what kind you want. I'll get details on the deposit amounts.
Thanks,
Dave

They can do 1st or 2nd gen, they just need a hood to do the mold. My car is 2nd gen, so this group buy is only for 2nd gen...
By the way, the company that is supplying the hoods will need an OEM hood to make the mold. I can give them my CL to use for the mold, but the problem is that I'm in northern california, and they're in southern california.
Would anyone be willing to offer their hood for a mold? I talked to them today and they will give you a discount on the CF hood if you can supply the hood. If not, then I'll do it, but it'll be a little harder, that's all.
The expected date is late March, since they're swamped until then. The company that will supply the hoods is FactorX Motorsports (http://www.factorxmotorsports.com) in Fullerton.
The deposit amount is 25%... I will have to ask them for more payment details.
So, who is willing? If none of you are in southern california, then I'll have to drive my car down there next month.

Hey guys,
Good news, they've got the mold for the 2nd gen CL. So we're ready to go!
Here is the contact info:
FactorX Motorsports
714-526-3973
ask for Ken or Sam
So we each need to get them a deposit of 25%, and at least 10 of us need to order one. It looks like we have 12 people, so it should be ok. Just call them up to arrange the payment. Remember to specify what grade of CF you want!
Thanks, guys, I'm looking forward to getting one of these!
