By all means...have at it! Would you like the Raw to work from?

I like the idea, too. Could really give us some insight into PP.

oi.. the RAW is really nice too... that greenness looks so murky and gives it this foreboding feel... reminds me of something out of like, Lord of the Flies... It would be nice if you choose to show the rest of the class how good the original is as well. :P Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to look like that. Probably because the one you originally posted in here looks so natural. That place looks terrific!

heres my take on it.. what do you think? I feel like its lost that "wall-hanging" feel.. probably because it doesn't look as natural.

lol, yeah it's kind of jungle-looking with the green cast. I'm not opposed to posting the untouched image. Thanks for the props, srika! It was definitely a good hike...I've said before how much I love the Columbia River Gorge. Good stuff.

I like your version...it has your stamp on it with the amped up blacks. I think you and jup both brought out more crisp detail & contrast on the upper 3rd of the pic, where I left it to fade. Totally a matter of preference. I really like the strong lines and contrast that show in your iteration. Again, it's amazing to me how such seemingly subtle changes make it a completely different viewing experience. Thanks for taking the time to share what you'd do with it! Nice!

Oh, and here's a jpeg conversion of the unadulterated Raw image, as requested:

Oh, and I wouldn't say yours has lost a "wall hanging" feel at all! :shakehead

Ok, here's my first attempt at HDR using CS3. Despite the overcast conditions, I bracketed 3 exposures of this shot just to see what would come of it. Processing critiques emphatically welcomed...

Do you guys usually white balance before you import shots to merge, or do you make all adjustments on the final image? I just realized I never adjusted the WB at all on this.

Thanks guys!

Kyle - if you hike, I highly recommend that trail. The footing sucks most of the way, but it's a good, vigorous hike in a gorgeous setting. Go take some pics of the view without the clouds for me!
