Purse cam
I am a photography newb, but my brother is a photo god. He has handed me down several cameras over the years, I have a Cannon PS s30 and a Nikon N80. I am going to buy myself the new Nikon D40. I want to buy my Girl Friend a pocket cam, and have no clue what to get her.
It would need to be something small that she can fit in her purse ( the cannon s30 we have now is not small) and something that has image stabalizer so she could just point and shoot. Price range would be around $200 -$350. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You will find that the Fuji F30 will beat out that camera in almost all situations, especially if you shoot indoors alot. Image stabilization is good, but in point and shoot camera's the lenses are just not large enough to fully take advantage. If you want IS and great pictures go for the Canon SD700.
If you want the scoop on any of the good cams, then www.dpreview.com is the place to go. If they have not reviewed it i won't buy it.
