If I had never used this camera before I would never guess that this is the camera used to take such beautiful photos...but, its true.
Night shots I would suggest using a tripod.

drigo, a faster shutter speed allows you to take a picture with less chance of blurring the image. However a faster shutter speed requires more light since the shutter is open for less time. If you are in a low light situation, you will have trouble using a faster shutter speed unless you compensate in other areas such as increasing the ISO or using a flash.
Lowering the shutter speed allows you to add blur to a picture where you think it can be useful. For example, if your goal is to take a picture of a moving car, you may want to have some blur in the picture to give the sense that the car is moving. If you use too fast of a shutter, you will capture the car as if it were perfectly still. If you slow the shutter down a little, this will introduce a bit of motion blur into the picture. This is why it is up to you to play around with the shutter speed in order to get the picture you want.

I thought I'd add my fav. shot to this thread... Not the best but I'm still learning.
Downtown Denver taken from the top of the Red Rocks Ampitheater, zoomed WAAAAAYYY in. You can see Denver International Airport in the very far back ground (the little white spot in the distance). DIA is probably an hours drive away from where this was taken.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
Here are a few recent shots from my vacation in Dominican Republic. I took more than 300 shots, these are a few of what I think are the best. My composition and exposure needs work though.
I loved the color of this pottery factory
My personal favorite
I screwed up these waterfall shots - my ISO was set to 1600. I think this would be a much better shot with less noise, and no people.
I didnt even get off my ass for this shot

^^ I like the original (uncropped) one better. It looks more natural and artistic to me.

A few more of mine....
Here are a few shoots I took a few years ago with the simple kit lens (not the greatest, considering my style leans more towards macro and detailed shots).
This photo reminded me of Eclipse's:
^ A real bridal party who just happened to be walking towards their shoot location behind me.
I used these pics to create real marble coasters. Coasters come pre-cut in a kit, along with special paper, and antiquing glaze, etc. Coasters came much cleaner/brighter/whiter. The glaze helped age it and the photos appeared sepia, not B&W (as seen above). This is the final product:
Out of focus - sorry....
They were a wedding gift. I had the bride choose words that were of importance to her, then matched some of those words to a few of my photos.

I do too. Just goes to show though, everyone has different tastes.
