You said that you're coming to Va, is that Northern Va. If so, wait, if you can and go to Ace Photo and look at bags. They have just about every camera bag made.

I believe that the Canon backpacks arent huge, and can be found for little money used. Might be a temp cure to at least get you to your destination.

I am coming to Virginia, my sister lives in Fredericksburg. I do need a bag to get me from California to Virginia though. Found a couple that are smaller than the Dakine, the Crumpler Karachi Outpost (size small), or the Kata D-Light Bumblebee 210 Backpack. Going to do some more research tonight. Sigh.

Check out this bag. I think I might jump on it.

I just bought a flash and have 2 lenses, now the Nikon bag the camera came with is getting very tight.

It's a decent bag, but as soon as you start putting real weight in it, you'll want something else.

thats the bag I was talking about, cheap and decent for a starter. Or, go for the Burton, and make the BF carry it until you find a bag your size

I bought the one for $40. I think it's perfect for what I need it for.

Nothing screams camera bag like one that says Canon. can't make the bf carry the bag, he isn't going with me.

I agree with you, maybe for now you can make your own camera bag to get through this trip. Give you some time to pick the right one.

I actually saw pics that someone posted on another site. They had converted a carry on suitcase into a camera case

Actually taking the Canon badge off is pretty easy. I did it to mine, when I had it.

just be careful where you position the zippers when you close it. as in dont leave the zippers towards the top of the bag, if it were to come undone, the ENTIRE bag will unzip and everything will fall out.

i had it, thought it was ok, but quickly wish i had gotten something else.

Thanks, for now I ordered an Oakley backpack and a camera insert I can take in and out.
I got my camera last night! He got me the Canon 50d w/ the 17-85mm lens, also got me the 50mm f/1.8 ef lens, 2 8gb cf cards, an extra battery and a lens hood for the 17-85mm lens.
He is the best boyfriend ever (I just had to say that.

So now the new question is...Do I need any filters? IF so, recommendations??

glad to hear you got the 50D, seemed as though thats what you wanted most. As for filters, I wouldnt worry about a UV filter with those, a polarizing filter would depend on what youre shooting, it will make a pretty decent difference when shooting outside during the day. A shot that without it will have a blown out white sky, will have a nice blue one. The 50mm takes a 52mm filter, which should be fairly inexpensive, the 17-85 I think is a 67mm. You may want to hold off on a filter until you decide what you want to do though, you may find yourself wanting to upgrade lens' rather quickly, and could then later buy filters.

which bag did you get? Is it a camera bag, or just a regular bag that you bought a camera insert for?

Boo, I bought a Tamrac Express 6 bag last night at the mall, and the camera barely fits! It is a little beefy I suppose. But I love it so far!
