Noobie here. Nikon D5000?

First off I must say that the photography section here on acurazine is awesome. I've found so much good information looking through here and there are alot of really talented photographers.

Alright, I'm 21 years old and I've convinced my parents to help me buy a DSLR camera for this christmas. I've done alot of the basic research and looked at alot of youtube videos and decided I really like the new Nikon D5000 camera. I really want to have a camera that can film movies but the Nikon 300s and Canon 5D markII are way out of my price range. I think the Nikon would be perfect for my needs right now as a beginner photographer as it is very user friendly and it has the filming capabilities as well. I am well aware that movies filmed with this camera will not be exceptional but I have looked at video tests done with this camera and it is good enough for my standards.

Anyways, I am just wondering what your guys' opinions are on this camera and if there are any reasons to talk me into or out of buying this one. Thanks alot and I will take all comments into consideration.

Camera specs are here:

I've held D5000 and T1i but honestly, I dont know what I am looking for in terms of "feel" because I have nothing to compare to. I read alot of people saying to pick up the camera and play around with it before deciding cause thats really important, but like I said, I dont know I'm supposed to "feel" for.

I liked how the D5000 displays a sort of mini instructions for beginners but is this feature going to be useless to me in a couple months? I also like how the D5000 and T1i have pretty big LCD screens.
