Need Advice on Pics of Food

I plan on changing the menu for my restaurant and would like to add photos to the menu.
I have a Canon SD500, nothing fancy, to take the pictures and I know lighting is important but anything else I should look into??
Are there any websites or advice that can help me??

Thanks~~

I always have trouble at work when I do food shoots. There always seems to be hot spots....use soft lighting and alot of natural light. I have spotlights with a filter over the bulb and it works pretty good.

Softlighting is very good advice.

And one way to acheive that to help get rid of hot spots is to bounce lights on to the food, rather then directly aiming the lights on the food.

^^ I agree.. in this case, the food was made with the purpose of consumption in mind, not taking pictures of it a more-contrasting dish would have been better.

Only Japanese place I've been to in Downtown was a Shabu Shabu place.

Sorry....hahahahaha =)
The name is TERIYAKI BOY, it's on 3rd between Main and Spring by the Reagan Building. I'm only open for lunch, waiting for the neighborhood to develop so I can open at night. If you're hungry stop by!!! Mention you're from the forum.
