This is DCWnaptwn's photo, not mine. I would like to know how to make one similar with my CL. Thanks in advance.

Assuming Photoshop...

a) camera on tripod
b) make two exposures (hood closed, hood open)*
c) bring both images into a single Photoshop document
c.1) put the closed hood exposure on a layer above the open hood exposure
d) use the eraser tool to erase the closed hood revealing just the engine from the open hood exposure on the layer below
...or better...
d) use the elliptical gradient tool with a black to white gradient on the layer mask for the closed hood exposure

* You'll almost certainly need to throw some additional light into the engine compartment on the open hood exposure.

^^That would actually be a third option. Use the elliptical selection tool, apply a moderately large feather value to the selection, then delete. This is actually a better route than the eraser tool if you don't want to deal with layer masks.

yes, never used it though...it's supposed to be like a free photoshop, just not with every feature photoshop offers...try it out if you don't already have photoshop...it's had some great reviews...
