I guess this is the right forum...

My son has been showing a lot of interest in astronomy lately, he constantly is reading his astronomy book he got for his birthday and watches a lot of space shows on TV.

I think I want to surprise him with a telescope this Christmas, but I am not sure what to look for and what would be good for a kid his age. Of course I would be using it as well as I have always wanted a telescope since I haven't had one since I was a kid.

I want something that's good enough to keep his interest, but not overly expensive, I guess my price range is no more than $125. Its too late to order online, so it would have to get it in a store like Fry's.

Any suggestions?
