Fujifilm X100 (DROOL!)
Still waiting to see what these Nikon mirrorless rumors have to offer....but this is a camera I've been eye balling since its announcement.
Its not going to be a cheap camera by any stretch I dont think...but damned if this initial preview doesnt get me excited

Creepy guy in the mirror.
I love the looks of it too. Much because it reminds me of the Canon rangefinder that my dad had - just like the one in the article.
I am just disappointed in the rumored price. For that price you can get so much more - the only thing is you lose the phenomenal nostalgic style.

Its a very niche product. But its in the realms of exactly what I want.
I still want to see what happens with the Oly EPL2 and if Nikon does ever announce anything worth drooling over.

Nikon should announce something with next three weeks or so. At least that the poop.
I'd like to have the X100, but if Nikon does EVIL and I can use current lenses

Sample pics posted from dpreview's pre-production model.
These images are freaking GREAT. very low noise. I wish there was more low light stuff to examine, but overall the quality of the photos are there.
And after the EPL2 got lackluster reviews...as did the GF2 (which I was expecting) this just keeps pushing this camera right in my face.
And of course Nikon has announced nothing yet.

Fujifilm has stated they didnt expect the huge interest in this camera, and therefore there may be shortages upon release....they are looking at end up of march/1st week of April

Oh, I knew this was going to be a hawt camera. Knew they would have trouble at first. If I want this when it first comes out, will have to look at stores I don't normally shop at. I need to get rid of a body first though, not sure to keep D2xs or D300s.

I knew this was going to be hot, too....but I didnt know how hot until all the specs and samples started coming in...
Not something I can really drop money on right now...but I am buying one. This is the exact camera I have been talking about wanting for awhile now. Hopefully, Amazon gets them in stock ASAP...but I have a note left with Samys Camera to call me as well.

I'm not to worried about the D300s processor, I have my D3s when I want the IQ that I want. I have the D300s for the reach and that's why I grab a used D2xs because the images from it have a little pop that the D300s doesn't have. It shoots ISO 100 native and that the plus it had over the D300s. The D2xs just has that little old school in that just nails the image. But the D300s has live view and I like to use it and the extra reach when doing macro. But I love the probody of the D2xs.

With my luck it will arrive when I'm in Miami.

It's not just a point and shoot, it's as a classic rangefinger.
Can't seem to find it on amazon.

The cameras arent out yet in the states and they will be rare for quite some time, especially after the disaster in Japan.
I am DYING for this camera.
But with that said, I actually canceled my pre-order this morning. Until I jump on another tv show or feature I dont really need to be spending the money. I would rather put that cash towards savings for a new home, which is going to become a necessity sooner than I realized.

so I had previously thought this camera was $1500 body only (that's what I thought when I asked about it). But now I see its $1200 with a 23mm f/2 lens. That is pretty nice.

Fuji has been able to get production going again, IIRC two weeks ago.

I want this camera...and at some point I will get it. But I need to get on another long term show first. Til then, an extra money found goes into a new house fund.
And nanny....freaking childcare is expensive...and we are getting lucky enough to have someone who is really good and working on the lower end of the scale.

I remember paying over 12k just for my son, did that for five years, thank god for public school, though we still pay $300 per month for after school, then there's daycamp in the summer, about $210 per week.

Needs more Lemon Pledge
being unfamiliar with Rangefinders, I have done a little reading since seeing this thread but am still coming up short on the differences between RF and SLR/DSLR.
Is it mainly that you have full sensor/film size in a compact body with no shutter lag?

Yeah, amazon had a bunch the other night and they were gone, before you could type the word fast. They posted inventory after much of the central and eastern time zone went to bed.

I should have kept my pre-order...probably could have sold it for a small profit...
But of course we all know had I done that...it never would have been resold...I'd just be posting pics right now
