Canon PowerShot S95

Anyone have the S95? Most of the reviews are pretty positive and wondering what you guys think. I'm leaning toward this cam as the my next P&S. This seems to be the best as far as size/performance go.

Can't go wrong with it, I heard nothing but good about it. It's almost the G12, in a smaller body with a 2.0 lens, though not fixed.

A friend showed me his a few weeks back. Very nice camera, but I got the G12 instead. S95 did not have the pull on the long end of the zoom and the controls of the G12 appealed to me more than the menu driven selections of the S95. Plus the G12 just felt better in my hands. I think you could be happy with either one. G12 is on sale at Fry's until the 16th for $399.

G12 is nice, but a bit too big for what I want. The main reason I'm looking at the s95 is because I want something compact. S95 seems like the BEST compact P&S available (currently). Unless anyone else would recommend another P&S with comparable quality and size?

Arghhhh.... Now I'm debating on if this is REALLY the best camera. It has alot of good features, but as my wife's main "point and shoot camera," it might be too much as she'll probably just keep it on auto mode. Something a bit more compact will probably make more sense.. back to the drawing board!

canon SD4000. super small and f/2.0

I know a few people who have it and each of them love it to all end.

The SD4500 is f/3.4 vs the f/2.0 on the SD4000. Kind of a big difference, IMO. Something to keep in mind. If you were considering the S95 because of its f/2.0, I think you'd want the SD4000.

Does the 4000 have the new HS system? If so, let us know how that performs.

Just an update, picked up the SD4000IS sometime in December. I ordered the red version and it's pretty damn ugly. It has a redish/orange hue. I didn't really mind, but since the wife will be using this camera soon she insisted I returned it. It's a great camera for the few days I had it. Finally got around to returning it to Amazon, but was impressed enough to get another one...this time in black.

the color is very important, totally. because if you don't feel good when taking your photos, there's no point in doing it at all.

The pricing on the SD4000IS seems pretty good! I might get this one for my gf as well!

I was thinking of getting her S95 in the beginning, but when I told her about it, she said it's too much camera for her.

How's the auto setting on the SD4000? My gf will probably just use it on auto pretty much all the time.

i just recently received my s95 and i love it! best point and shoot i ever owned. I am not a big photographer, so a point and shoot is fine for me rather than a DSLR (modding car is already an expensive hobby, i dont need another )

test shots of my "s2k" with the built in effects :
