iv'e been anticipating this race for a few months now...so i can finally practice my panning shots...after reading srika's guideline on "panning" how-to...i thought i was ready...turns out i wasn't even close...
i don't think these are worth posting but i'm doing it so the experts out there can see them and maybe give me a few pointers for my next attempt...
on a side note...it was overcast all day and we had a few sprinkles...so i had my F stop set to mostly around 5-9...
if you notice...most of the "panned" shots came out somewhat blurry...
my keeper rate was very minimal but overall i had a great time at the race...
anyhoo..on with the pics...
i cropped a couple of pics and did minor PP on all pics...
i feel like i got by photography..but hey..i tried...

AWESOME pics! I watched the last 8 minutes, and saw the car in pic#2 win the overall. Thanks for posting.
BTW, what gear did you take the pics with?

drigo, I think you did pretty good for your first try, keep trying. I know a lot of my firsts of trying had me thinking other wise. Just keep it up. Run your pictures through Canon ZoomBrowser to check your focus points. Your images don't have exif.
Also what resolution were you shooting? In your static shots the reds, whites and blacks should be cleaner.

i think i screwed up the pics during PP...since all i have is DPP and a crappy software for resizing and doing minor stuff...i shot RAW then ran it through DPP for some PP then converted to JPEG..then i cropped and resized with my other software..i lose my exif files when i resize with my other software...
i thought i did pretty good when i saw the pics on the camera...but when i took it home and put it on my laptop...they looked like crap...

Really good for a first try!
There is where a VR lense can really help you out. but you have to always have a one your focus ring...manual is the best way to nail these.
