**Black and White Only**
I noticed there is no dedicated thread for B+W images.
I am becoming very interested in B+W digital and film so I thought I would start a dedicated thread for B+W. PLEASE only post B+W. No Color or partial color. I personally ALWAYS want C+C whenever I post a pic, so let it flow in here. Seriously. So, if YOU post here, expect it too. I am both interested in getting better at the composition of B+W images as well as the post processing aspects of converting digital or scanning and retouching film/negatives. Anyone with good ideas on either, please chime in! |
Wondering if anyone has any composition or PP suggestions for this image? It was taken with a P+S in jpeg so I cant really get much more out of it quality wise but cropping, PPing, etc.. all are subject to change.

I approve of this thread.
Stogie, i do like the composition since its pretty straight forward with its lines and how its lining up to its subject. Imho, i wouldn't crop it.
I like the B&W processing on your image. In terms of composition and such, I think you would get a stronger image if you shot it from farther away, so the text was easier to read. It would almost have a "Life in America" kind of feel. That would be my only suggestion. I like the crop and comp you did, for this vantage point.
We did have a B&W thread but a) it was around 2008 b) it had partial color images in it c) it wasn't as formal |
Ah, I searched for black, white and B+W. Forgot about the ampersand.

Great thread! Here is one.

^ Love the motion blur in the smoke!
I kinda wish the crop wasn't so tight though. |

Nice shot!
Aside from being awesome, what a wide angle lens!
^ I like the shot rockstar and the treatment, but I think it may be a bit too dark. Looks like it is helping mask the garage door, but I feel like it is just a shade or two too dark.

thanks stog...yeah, that was my non valiant attempt to save that image...it was brighter and cool looking but it also highlighted the wall above the car and the mirror I have hanging there. I should have bailed on it
I really like the first S2000 reflection shot you did - just wish it was a bit wider and level -
one of my cardinal rules, any time you have a reflection going on, make it a point to capture the entire reflection - leaving room for composition - for at least one of the shots -
Duly noted :salute:
I appreciate the tips. I'll keep that in mind... |
This one just got selected for a photography show here in DC:

A lot going on in that picture...I love it. THe girl covering her ears makes it for me...
nicely done!! it's no wonder why it was chosen.
