Arrow **AcuraZine Photo Contest #7**

The theme for this contest is "Spring". Whatever signifies spring to you is possible material for this contest.

The rules for this contest are as follows:
-Any interpretation of the theme that falls within AcuraZine rules is welcome.
-You must be the person that took the photo. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image.
-One submission per contest.
-Images must be no larger than 800px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 800px for the poll.
-All contestants must host their own pictures.
-All pictures must have a title
-While post processing in photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photochopped" the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture.

Important dates and poll info:
Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Friday, April 14th @ 4:59pm EST. The poll will start on Friday, April 14th @ 5pm EST and will allow again for multiple votes. The poll will close at 5pm on Monday April 17th. In the event of a tie, we will have a lightning round of voting from 5:01 to 12:00pm EST where people get one vote.

These changes should give everyone more time to work on their entries and will also let voters give kudos to a few of their favorites instead of only picking one winner.

As always, the contest winner gets to choose the theme for the next contest and the honor of creating the thread for it. They will also be recorded in the official "AcuraZine Photo Contest Hall of Fame" thread.

Good luck everyone!

Let me ask for a clarification to the rules.

I've had an Idea for a picture for the last few days, from my last hike.

Must entries be a single frame? What are thoughts on seamless panoramics?

Funny thing is some of the darker rainy areas look like they might be seams...but they arent...its really just the bad weather from far away.

How would your picture of a seagull on a street light fulfill that criteria?

Okay for one thing I didn't notice the top part lol where it said "Spring" I totally skipped that for some reason and just went to this:

Any interpretation of the theme that falls within AcuraZine rules is welcome.
- That's the Rule I am referring to, basically I am just wondering if the photographers should put a caption to clarify their interpretation.

mrsteve
How would your picture of a seagull on a street light fulfill that criteria?
- This is the reason why I was asking about the rule. Notice my title is called "The Watchman," In essence all of us AZiner's are watchmen for the automotive industry, parts, others cars, etc. Sure it is a stretch, but everyone has different interpretations. I'd like to see or know what the artist is thinking. For example the guy who made "spring colors" I see why its black and white basically to create an ironic effect (but hey the artist could have different intentions). Yes there is a TL on the bottom right, the initials of my name...

The Sarlacc
You seriously don't read do you?
Are you ESL or something?
- Okay, My mistake for not clarifying my question and missing a provision of the rules, but before jumping the gun or making any assumptions I fail to see any reason to imply that I am in ESL or somebody who doesn't read. For one thing, maybe I am making an assumption that you meant that comment to be derogatory. My intentions aren't to start up any flames here in any thread, I just want to clarify to prevent misunderstandings.

That's a really nice photo, did you meter it yourself or use a camera's spot metering? What exposure setting was it on when you took it?

Thank you aznt1217. The shot was done as follows:

Canon 20D
Hand held
1/400 sec
F 5.6
Evaluative metering (internal camera metering)
ISO 100
Lens 17-85MM @ 59mm (with Hoya HMC pro UV filter)
RAW capture
A little bit of luck.

That is the uncropped version (just resized) with a small bit of sharpness added and the white balance set to "shade" from within DPP. I took 12 exposures of the sunset at all different levels because I wasn't sure how to capture it correctly. That was the best one of the bunch.
