We'll be a mile or so south of you on Lighthouse Dr. Cannot friggin wait! The weather is looking beautiful for the week we'll be there, too. I was actually eying the weather this past week feeling a little jealous and hoping it would hold out for us.

I've only been to Corolla a couple of times and have never gotten to see the ponies. We're going to try this time. I really don't know any other good spots - I've mostly just wandered on the beach shooting sand patterns and silly stuff. I haven't been since I got more serious about shooting. I love it there, though. This time tomorrow we'll be halfway there!

oh also it depends on the application, this is not the "post shots you are sending to the Louvre for exhibition" thread. It's a casual thread for casual pictures, it's a "show us what you're doing and where you've been" kind of thread. If you were planning to send those shots to Super Street or something, then we could be much more critical.

not bad for what you had. For the last pic though, notice how all the other pics you left some space in front of the car? For the mini shot its a bit odd how it's traveling left but theres more space to the right of the car. If you don't mind I cropped the pic, I didn't play with anything else, just crop. I thought the cones made a cool lead into the mini

Cool. It's kind of the same way I cropped the other pics. I just didn't want them all to look the same, with the car in one corner and some space in front of it

Yeah the weather has been great..it's actually clearing up now..a little chilly though...you should check out the wild horse tours..I called a place yesterday that charges $39 per adult for a 2 hour tour..not bad and they guarantee that you'll see horses or you get your money back...check out jockeys ridge park if you get a chance..
Going off to see the cape hatteras lighthouse now...crossing my fingers to get some good shots...
Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks, I'll look into it! Going to be a busy week..our families are joining us Wednesday, and we're gettin' hitched on the beach next Friday! So we're looking forward to the quiet time the first half of the week, and finding horses is high on the list of things to do!

One thing a great friend told me to do when you don't want the shots all look the same.
Find another damn spot, I was blocking his view he says haha, so I went on the other side and found some nice and different angles =P

I'm just saying it in general but for some cases one spot is your only spot you think but hey you never know till you tried.

lol, yeah, i tried to do that a little. If you look at the flickr pool for the club, the photos are all pretty much taken from a few common angles

^ and there's one of the biggest challenges of photography, using your technique to portray similar angles in your own characteristic and unique style. And also, trying to find uncommon angles and techniques. Focal length, lighting, exposure, detail, blur, and focus, all coming together to give you a final product.
