Went out last night to try and capture the Perseid meteor shower last night. Drove about 1.5hrs north of SF to Point Reyes. its a light green on the light pollution map

anyways properly attempted image stacking for the first time.

Untracked using my 6D Mark II.

8 shot image stack. 35mm, 8s, f2, ISO3200.

stacked in Affinity Photo then brought into Lightroom for a quick edit.

I'm not quite sure I like the edit yet.

Also the coma is absolutely terrible on the Canon 35mm F2 IS USM
And a plane flew across my image. the stacking got rid of the lights, but you can tell something was there

did they have a wedding photographer? Was there any pushing and shoving? Equipment envy?

they had ONE photographer, with no 2nd shooter, and I'm pretty sure he only had a 50mm lens... my friend would've had me shoot it but she wanted me to be there as a guest, and NOT working. When we got to the event location (early), I noticed that he was alone and had no 2nd shooter, IMO... weddings are hard to do alone... so, I told my wife that I was going to be the "unofficial" 2nd shooter because there WILL be shots he won't be able to capture, like the groom's reaction upon seeing his soon-to-be wife as she came down the aisle. It's an important shot that the photog wasn't going to get because he was in the back where the bride was coming into the area. So, while everyone stood up for the bride's entrance, and looking at her, I had my camera pointed at the groom (see first picture of the series)

But to answer your question, no... there was no shoving or pushing because I know where NOT to be in order to avoid any interference with the paid photographer. I shoot weddings here and there, so I know what not to do as a spectator. Which is why I got most of my shots from my seat. I hate to say this, but I thought the paid photographer was kinda unprofessional... During the bride's father's speech (reception), he was nowhere to be seen, so once again... I stepped in and captured the emotional moment (but again, I shot it from my seat, so there was no getting in the way of anyone). And that's another thing... he shot with the 50mm the whole time, so at certain moments, he had to get really close to the couple, at times right in front of the parents... I didn't take any picture at the point, but here's shot of him running around all over the place during the rather intimate event (like a paparazzi) lol

Even if he isn't...he certainly isn't dressed professionally. He should be in attire to match the wedding.

my in-laws are big into photography, and they love shooting the weddings, but just don't want to be paid because they don't want the pressure of missing "the shot." I see because I'm at a lot of these weddings with them, the photographers get pretty territorial when they see the in-laws with better equipment. It's funny.

Bonus points when you get your photos back to the bride weeks before the paid photographer is done with his editing (if he even does any real editing).

my take on photog's attire is... you never want to draw attention, and wearing red definitely wasn't a good choice. But shooting weddings IS a long ass day, and photogs should dress professional but also be comfortable at the same time, yet NOT slappy

It IS annoying as the paid photog when "uncle Bob" who bought his entry model dSLR from Costco and jumps out in front of you during the important moments... actually, it doesn't matter what kind of camera they have, be it iPhone or the guy attending that happens to be a camera enthusiast.... which is why I always respect them as an attendee and not get in their way...

But as for getting the photos to the couple before the paid photog? I may have sent them the edited photos the next day

I did a bit in college...my take was find out what the required attire is for said event. At the very least a black/dark suit. No, you dont want to over dress...but you dont want to be a shrub either. When you look like the guests, you blend better.

They stay out of the way and get the shots that the photographer is missing, just like you.... anyone else with a big dslr bothers these guys.
Everyone kinda knows what's going to happen at these family events anyway, they've been doing it for 40yrs or so.

so, we have this theater room in our building and I've always wanted to do a shoot in there...

the light in the back (1 Godox AD200 with snoot) was the key light AND acted as the (pretend) movie projector... my assistant held a Westcott Omega 10-in1 reflector in front of the subjects, bouncing light back into them

mainly Facebook. It all started a few years ago when I hadn't gotten my permanent residency here in Canada, so since I couldn't work legally, I volunteered to shoot Vancouver Fashion Week, at which point I network with models, makeup artists, other photographers etc etc. It's just went from there.
