the theme for this contest is "BLACK & WHITE "

The rules for this contest are as follows:

-Any interpretation of the theme that falls within AcuraZine rules is welcome.
-You must be the person that took the photo. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image.
-One submission per contest.
-Images must be no larger than 800px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 800px for the poll.
-All contestants must host their own pictures.
-All pictures must have a title.
-While post processing in photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photochopped" the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture.

Important dates and poll info:
Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Oct.12th @ 6pm EST. The poll will start on Oct.13th @ 5pm EST (or thereabouts). Multiple votes will be allowed. The poll will close at 5pm EST on Oct.19th.In the event of a tie, we will have a lightning round of voting from 6pm EST Oct.20th to 6pm EST Oct.20th where people get one vote.

we'll see, im really busy with work and school right now... i think i have some worthy ones to submit, just a matter of choosing the right one.

we'll see... if it looks like i might get some time in the next few days to shoot maybe i'll take a new one.

i kinda wish there was a theme inside the theme.. like PEOPLE B&W or NATURE B&W... it would make it a little easier instead of compaing a very well taken pic of a baby to a picture of a tornado... kinda comparing apples to oranges ya know?

oh it'll be fine... just saying for a contest, people who like babies will vote for a baby and people who like cars will vote for cars and so on.

if you make a more specific topic you'll esentially elminate the biases and focus (sorry not a photo pun) on actual pictures

wow...you guys are quick...
i thought about doing a theme b&w but i figured this way we have alot more of a variety...i'm always looking to see other people's artistic minds at work... ...b&w photos seem/sounds simple to alot of people but it can be really artistic if you put alot of imagination behind it...i have a few ideas myself...

badger: on the previous HDR contest...we had allowed a submitted pic to be changed so i have no problem with you changing yours...

well im going to leave that decision up to you since you started the thread. take a vote if you want, I like the pic and wouldn't mind keeping it, however if you or everyone else thinks its too photoshopped and thus unfair or whatever, i have no problem switching it... i actually had 2 pics in mid so i can always just do the other one. besides its to my advantage to have everyone like the pic i submitt... if they dont or think its unfair then i probably wont get any votes.

your call, either way i dont mind

First off I'll state that I like Badger's image and I think he should be allowed to keep it included if he so chooses. That said, I think processing like that in Badger's image is sort of outside the spirit of what we've been doing with these contests. Or to perhaps say it in a more direct manner, where do you draw the line between "photography" and "digital imaging?" Damn if I know and at the risk of turning this forum into DPReview, I recommend we avoid trying to figure it out.

I like the 1st one, whether or not it stays in the competition - very neat effect. You're much better at photography than you are at picking quarterbacks.

haha fair enough, but for the last time in my "personal defense"... I would have never drafted Grossman in the 1st place (curse of the Florida QB's not doing well in the NFL). You gotta stick up for your team though, hopefully Griese will be better this week in Detroit and we can put all the Grossman BS in the past... but thats getting off topic.

Also to touch on what Billiam said, i agree, there is a fine line between the two however, the only thing I photoshoped in that pic was bumping up the contrast and using the shadow/highlight tool. No filters or anything so maybe its not as "shopped" up as originally thought.
