4th Annual All Cali/Acurafest Planning Thread

I figured now is a good time to start planning our next All Cali/Acurafest meet.

i know some of you werent too fond of Fresno and some had already said Santa Barbra for this years meet.

With the current economy, sponsors are needed, especially if we want to top the 09 meet.

so lets decide on a possible location(s), city, date, ect.

central location
ample parking is needed
shade is needed
bbq areas are a must
possibly move it up a month? (to avoid any heat wave )

so..what do you guys think? Fresno? SB? Central coast?

compared to last year this thread is somewhat late, so lets get some ideas out in this thread

crazyasiantl 03-28-2010 01:20 AM

i know Roger is working on this, but i feel we all need to chime in on this

if location is changed, then we will need a local in the potential area to scout out areas and possibly seek sponsorship from a local dealer or car tuning shop

TRIOD3SIGNS 03-29-2010 11:12 AM

HEY GUYS!!!!.... sorry long F'IN weekend.
YES ACURAFEST 2010 is definitley on!

Let me fill you guys in on a few things that I have been struggling with...

As discussed last year, Santa Barbara(SB) is ideal for this next meet. But I have a few problems.

1. No one here can seem to find a good higher up manager/owner connection with Gold Coast Acura (the closest Acura Dealership to SB)

2. By now, I expected to find at least 1 active AZINE member from SB to do our groundwork & location recon. But no luck yet. (ANYBODY....?)

3. Business has been slow, so I can't justify taking trips to out to the SB area to seek out sponsorship.

So uhh yeah.... that's where we are at. That being the case, let me fill you in on the positives alternatives.

1. Fresno Acura would be definetly interested in sponsoring again. But in my opinion we would have to do it early summer... or early fall. Last year was WAAAYYYYY toooo hot.

2. I can't speak for them, but I see no reason why Hansel Acura
(an acurazine head sponsor) wouldn't sponsor an event at thier dealership or near their area in the NORTH BAY (Santa Rosa...SF). Of course we would need someone to do the recon & sponsorship sales for us.

3. We can always choose to forget all sponsors & all of us pony up $$$ and have the meet anywhere we fancy:tomato:.

crazyasiantl 03-29-2010 11:15 AM

i think if we move to nor cal, we would have half of the attendance of last year, especially if as north as Santa Rosa :2cents:

gfrg88 03-30-2010 01:45 PM

Loonatix14 03-31-2010 05:40 PM

I vote for it be in late summer early fall. Doesn't matter where it's at I'll attend! I can help with the food again like last year. Lmk!! It would be nice for the local dealership support where ever we have it at. Centralize is ideal for both socal and norcal, us cencal guys have no problem since we are in the middle. Any other suggestion and input would help out azine community, let's get the ball rolling on this acurafest 2.0!

crazyasiantl 03-31-2010 06:00 PM

tixx just wants to make it later so he can make his car better :tomato:
but yea, we are down to host again guys, i wish more people would chime in for this

:werd: we're already a month behind compared to last year..planning wise

princelybug 03-31-2010 06:15 PM

Alright, Roger. If no one around SB gets anything done with Gold Coast in the next 2 weeks, we gotta go with the sure thing in Fresno.

I'm not doing the leg work, and neither is anyone else, so no one can complain.

Yes, the drive sucked, but the caravan was straight money.

It was well planned last year, and I don't see any reason why it can't be better this year.

Like we talked about, if you need anything from me, holla.

crazyasiantl 03-31-2010 06:21 PM

i agree, if we dont hear anything soon, i say we do fresno again (though i would love to be a part of one of those caravans lol)

we have fresno acura wanting to sponsor again, we have the space

but the heat

i say a month before ..my forehead and neck were blistered when i got home :whyme:

crazyasiantl 03-31-2010 06:47 PM

TRIOD3SIGNS 03-31-2010 07:23 PM

Alright I agree we need support in SO-CAL near GoldCoast, Expiration date : April 9th. After that, its guna be Fresno.

princelybug 03-31-2010 07:28 PM

Roger, I didn't know your whip was an '04 SH-AWD.

crazyasiantl 03-31-2010 07:35 PM

he did the drivetrain/3.7/6 speed swap

princelybug 03-31-2010 07:37 PM

wps007 03-31-2010 11:05 PM

Roger I have just spoken with the Wasatch one of the sponsor's from last year, They have stated they would up the Sponsorship from last year and offered to use one of there sites in Fresno for the event, Heron Pointe. Also mentioned they could possibly get some support for Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. There ball park downtown or the Casino in Oakhurst...of course that would mean Fresno area again. Also think the AZiners should support Acura of Reno event to gain more support from Acura themselves for Acurafest

HMMMMM, we have to choose a day that fits the majority. Plus remember we had over 100 cars that drove in from 4+ hours away, & we need to be able to justify them either driving home that night & sleeping in the next morning ...... or staying the night at a discounted ACURAFEST rate. Sunday might not work Unless we have a holiday that following Monday.

zRLmarine 04-02-2010 03:54 AM

+2 for attendance-myself and dad(TL) we didn't make it last year, but i spent the last 2 hours looking on google maps for parks in santa barbara and then looking them up for pictures and info, but couldn't find anything big enough. its a tight, closely packed city, any thoughts for san luis obispo- ill keep looking there.

zRLmarine 04-02-2010 04:03 AM

i guess the only real way is if we have a scout from one of these cities find a place.......

crazyasiantl 04-02-2010 06:14 AM

im down to drive to slo and scout if you guys paypal me some money for gas and food :tomato:

Loonatix14 04-02-2010 04:36 PM

you know, you guys could try talking to your mods & admins too. We may have connections you haven't ever thought of. We could turn this into the largest AcuraZine meet in the country with the sheer number of Cali AZiners...

crazyasiantl 04-03-2010 08:19 AM
