Has anyone seen this car on the road yet? I have seen pictures and think its great. Volvo has finally come thru with the R type. The inside looks tight, and 300HP is decent. It won't be a rocket ship cause the weight but with optional stock 18's, look out! I would buy one of these any day for high 40's.

I think beltfed ordered one or something...but yea it looks hot. We'll have to wait for the actual magazine reviews for the performance. I dont thing too many people were impressed with the performance of the standard s60

Drove the car twice, once at the Shea event and once at the dealer.
Great car for the money, mine came in at $43,500 (give or take) and was just missing Nav and telematics. You can build one online at Volvo's website.
Only aspect of the car I wasn't thrilled with was the clutch and the slightly overboosted steering. Othan than that it was extremely nice.

Revised S60 Is Caught In Net - - By Chris Thorp - - Source: Autoexpress
Check out the tasty Swede we've unearthed! Found while digging around on a secret Volvo dealer website, this is the facelifted S60.
The car has been freshened in a bid to spice up what is one of the manufacturer's oldest models. The redesign is similar in scale to that given to the S80 last year, so don't expect too many significant changes.
All will be fully revealed when the wraps come off at next month's British Motor Show. The new-look Audi A4 rival then goes on sale in the UK, along with revised versions of the V70 and XC70, later in the summer. As our pictures show, the designers have reshaped the front to give a sharper look, while the headlamps have also been restyled. At the rear, the bumper has been tweaked, and there are new alloy wheels. Inside, the changes are equally subtle, but trim upgrades and new dash materials will lift the ergonomically sound cabin.
Although the facelift will involve few chassis changes, there are plans to upgrade the S60 and V70's engine range. The flagship R will remain the same, but the T5 unit has been reworked to produce 260bhp - a 10bhp increase - and 350Nm of torque. That should give the S60 and V70 T5 0-60mph times of less than 6.5 seconds.
Volvo is remaining tight-lipped about official specifications before the Motor Show, but expect an increase in standard kit to tempt buyers away from more modern, but sparsely equipped rivals from BMW and Mercedes.

Next Gen. Volvo S60 News **Spy Pics and CGIs (page 1)**
New Volvo S60 spied - - Source: Autocar
Volvo’s next-generation S60 saloon is shaping up ahead of its 2007 launch. Reader Tuli Margulies caught this heavily disguised S60 undergoing cold-weather testing while out skiing in Sweden.
Reports from inside Volvo tell us that the Swedish manufacturer’s new saloon is being developed in close co-operation with the third-generation Ford Mondeo. A sleeker front-end will mark out the new car, and beneath expect a thorough overhaul of the current S60’s stodgy dynamics, with particular attention to its steering response. Inside, Volvo is striving to match the German class leaders quality, while headline news under the bonnet will be Volvo’s new in-line six-cylinder engine. Expect a four-wheel drive S60R range-topper with 350bhp and 295lb ft to take on the Audi S4.
The revamped S60 is just one of an unprecedented seven new models that Volvo, under Ford parentage since 1999, plans to launch over the next three years, boosting production from 456,224 in 2004 to at least 650,000 by the end of 2008. Next year brings a replacement for the S80 saloon, which shares the the S60’s in-line six in 235bhp naturally aspirated or up to 350bhp turbocharged forms, in addition to a range-topping 4.4-litre V8 four-wheel drive producing 320bhp. An Estate version styled from Volvo’s Versatility concept car is yet to be confirmed.
...
Following the S60 will be its V70 estate and XC70 crossover siblings, all based on Ford’s versatile C1 platform. Following the XC70 in 2008 will be little brother XC50, a small premium crossover vehicle to tackle the BMW X3.

Good news from Volvo. I like that they're filling out they're lineup in rapid order. If done right, Volvo can become a force. Ford seems to be doing with Volvo what GM can't get done with Saab.

I test drove the S60 in 2004 and liked it ok. It's no TL or TSX, but it's nice. What I didn't like was the center stack. The stereo was confusing as hell to me, and the interior was nothing to write home about. However, the leather was really nice and soft and the seats were very comfy. IMO, a decent car, and if they could add a little more oomph and get rid of the nagging problems, including electronic stuff, I'd give it another look. That, and the price tag is a couple grand too high I think.
