Burning Brakes
NEW YORK CITY – At the New York International Auto Show, Volkswagen of America, Inc., will feature a Passat equipped with an appearance package inspired by the Passat R GT that was shown at the Specialty Equipment Market Association’s (SEMA) annual exhibition in November 2005. Although the vehicle was a concept, rave reviews from fans prompted Volkswagen to offer the package as an option on new Passats.
The appearance package creates a racy and aggressive look for the Passat with front and rear skirts with color contrasting elements, a honeycomb-designed grille, side sill kit, a harmonically integrated tailgate lip, oval-shaped tail pipe trim and 18-inch titanium colored alloy wheels, wrapped with 235/45R18 high-performance summer Pirelli tires. The vehicle’s stance is also lowered with the addition of performance lowering springs. The aerodynamic package improves the car's downward force on the road.
The Passat R GT concept and appearance package are the result of Volkswagen’s Moonraker project, a team of employees whose mission is to generate vehicles and options specifically designed for the unique trends in the U.S. marketplace.
The Passat aerodynamic appearance package will be available as an option, installed at the port of delivery, for $4,500 starting this fall. Customers will also be able to purchase the components a la carte as each of the pieces will be available for sale individually at all Volkswagen Dealerships.

on to the next one...
I like that a LOT!
and $4,500 for the whole package (if I'm reading correctly) is not bad at all
I'd have to say I'd take that over a TL A-spec anyday

I guess I wasn't paying attention, cause I didn't see this at the show. I probably would've liked it, though.

The sizzle in the Steak
^^^ Yup! If the charcoal colored plastic was painted it would be a all out winner.

VW To Offer Passat Sport Package First Introduced at SEMA - - Source: Edmunds.com
WOLFSBURG, Germany — Volkswagen Accessories is offering a new aerodynamic package for the Passat that turns VW's midsize family four-door into a more aggressive sport sedan. For the U.S. market, VW tells Inside Line, it may be named the R-GT rather than the European designation of V-Line. It goes on sale here in September.
Inspired by last year's SEMA Passat concept, the kit bundles a front skirt, side sills, rear skirt, tailgate lip and twin exhaust pipes, along with a honeycomb grille and smaller side air intakes.
Unfortunately, there is no immediate plan to offer a complementary engine upgrade, similar to the 500-hp twin-turbo unit in the Passat R GT concept that wowed the SEMA crowd last fall.
VW said the new package also "represents the establishment of a new premium product line," suggesting the company is working on similar GTI-style kits for the rest of its product range.
As part of the Passat package, performance springs lower the vehicle by 25-30 mm and limit suspension travel. The pack also includes 18-inch Velos alloy wheels in titanium or chrome-silver finish, with Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico 235/45ZR18 tires.
The Passat aero package is being offered by VW's U.S. dealers starting this fall, priced from around $4,500.
What this means to you: Who says SEMA cars are nothing more than one-off show vehicles? VW was the first European manufacturer to have a display at the aftermarket show and it's clearly making use of its time in Vegas.

I like most of it, but I'm not wild about the rear of either the car or the wagon. The electric razor dashboard is unique, but perhaps a little busy. Those seats look comfy though.

Three Wheelin'
exterior looks good, the seats look nice too. I sat in a passat with similar seats (sports package) and they are pretty comfy... but my god, the interior is SO cheap. I could NOT believe it. In my opinion that's a big step down for German cars. looks like it was built/designed by ford or chevy.
EDIT: I almost forgot... Automatic, AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

The sizzle in the Steak
Too much "silver" on the dash.

Tires don't look to be big enough for a performance model.
