Well, I think the Escalade has got that cylinder deactivation tech, so it probably makes it better on gas, and I think the Hummer H1 is out of production now.

Toyota is all over that list... I'm suprised to see the Escape on there... Good to see the Fit on there... but it doesn't suprise me at all the the list is loaded with hybrids
The corolla is on the list, so I guess that honda needs to bump it up a notch on the non-hybrid civic
My brother actually gets better mileage than the EPA numbers in his 4 cly 4x4 toyota tacomo (stock except for k&N drop in) But, yeah, most of the time the numbers are ALOT different then what people experience in real life... that's why there's always the YMMV disclaimer...

I thought the VW TDI Jetta milage was way up there.
And where's the Civic manual?
The Euro Accord diesel would be about the middle of the pack on the best milage list.

LOL @ the sub-compact/compact designations for these cars!
Minicompact Car: Aston Martin DB9 Coupe & Volante (manual) 11/18
Subcompact Car: Bentley Azure 11/16
Compact Car: Bentley Continental GT 12/19
I would never in a million years think of the Continental GT as a "compact" or the DB9 as a minicompact. I guess they go by interior volume!

That's one thing I love about the Prius, I was shocked when I finally saw one at a dealership and saw how much stuff you can pack in there. It's a very practical car unlike the Honda hybrids which give up a lot of trunk space and folding rear seats.

Holy Toyota!

I call BS on that article. There are several factual errors.....
for starters a Toyota Prius is NOT a midsize car and the Accord Hybrid is not on that list... (a mid sized car)

I am certain that those Bentley, Lambo and Ferrari owners are deeply upset with their fuel economy.

A buddy and I rented a Prius for a trip down to L.A. and got nowhere near the EPA ratings. I would say it averaged about 40-45 on the hwy. I looked at the MPG readout quite frequently on our trip.

I have a 2005 GC with the 5.7 Hemi which has the same cylinder de-activation technology as the Tahoe/Escalade (Jeep/DCX calls it MDS for "Multiple Displacement System"). If I'm easy on her I can push 20mpg.. not bad for an engine with 330hp and 375 ft. lb. of tourque.
The SRT-8 has the same basic 5.7L block (with different crank, top end, pistons, injectors, etc..) bumped up to 6.1L with no MDS.. That should explain the mileage.. Although, getting 12-15 mpg still isn't terrible when you can push a 4800 pound brick-shaped, AWD SUV from 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds..
SIDENOTE: How is a Prius considered a "midsize" car and the civic a compact? I always considered the Prius a compact as well..

suprised they didnt list the Ford Super Duty, Dodge Ram, all those HUGE SUVs, but I think they weigh so much, that they dont have to list fuel economy. (LAME)

There is no TDI for 2007 beacuse of new emissions requirments. VW is trying to figure it out but as of now the last TDI you can buy from VW in any form will be 2006. The only diesel cars in the US for 2007 will be from MB and about $60k to start. Trucks get a break beacuse the standards are based on a emission/ weight scale. This screws cars. MB got around it with a complicated and expensive exhaust system. VW can do the same thing, but who wants a $40k TDI Rabbit?
