TSX Type-S?

Has anyone heard anything about if and when, the TSX will be available in a Type-S model? How about any news on what's new for the 2005 TSX?

Acura will no longer make a type-s model on any of their cars, last i heard. They dropped that completely. Supposedly there will be some other form of the TSX, i am guessing it will be an AWD version. I seriously doubt it will happen for the 2005 version though...just my

Not to mention the a-spec doesn't come with any engine upgrades so you don't get the excitment of extra horsies like you would with the Type S.

A pretty reliable member here has said TSX will be available in an AWD hybrid form (200hp 2.4l I4 + 50hp electric). But he didn't say when. I'm anxious to see that one...should be pretty sweet.

It's found somewhere in this thread:

Is that what "The Oracle" meant in that thread or did he mean the TSX is to get a clutchless manual?? After re-reading it I am not for sure.

"The tranny in the RD-X should give you a hint on what may be available on the TSX in the future. Hint Hint"

and

"RDX...2.4 I-VTEC/200HP IMA/50HP Total output 250HP AWD 6 Sp transmission"

I took this to mean the TSX will be getting IMA. I mean it already has a 6sp tranny so I don't think that's the cat he let out of the bag.

No, there are a lot of performance mods in the A-Spec package (suspension tuning, exhaust, etc) just no engine mods...so you'll end up with no (or very little) power increases.

what i want to know is WHEN?! i think for the tsx to be able to compete with its competitors with its supposed inadequate to some "4 cylinder", acura needs to do something. and IMA with clutchless manual tranny ... if acura did that.. WOW..
cmon justin let us know when we can expect it.. we wont tell.. ..

forgive me if that has already been brought up, but it looks like the clutchless manual tranny has been talked about before the 2003 tsx was even coming out.

I've read a lot of what people have been saying and I think that its pretty clear that the European markets and American markets are very different in terms of what sells a car. When this accord comes over as an Acura, I'am willing to bet that they change the interior slightly and make minor adjustments to the tail lights and exhaust. The engine for our American market is the easiest guess! Its an Acura! It has to have more power than the current 03 accord EX V6. I bet they put the same 3.0 liter from the 03 accord into the TSX with a different exhaust kit to bump the power up slightly. The TSX type S has to be at least 250 + hp to compete with the Infiniti G35 and BmW 330Ci. Yes the number will infringe a little on the current 03 Acura TL and CL type S but remember when those new models come out they will be bumped up to around 300 hp with hybrid technology starting in 04 with a price increase. I also heard rumors that the TSX will be the first to debut Acura's Clutchless 6 speed manual. This sounds promising! Does anyone know if the TSX is Rear Wheel Drive or not?

got that from temple of vtec. although it was an old post and old news, I wonder..
