I'd take one in the dark grey and obviously SE.

Better yet, wait for the new Odyssey.

I wish the SE Sienna was like the SE Camry where you could still load it up with almost all the same luxuries. Can't really do that here.

Drove the V6 (not SE) a few weeks ago after just having driven an Odyssey. I much preferred the drive, feel, and visibility of the Honda vs. the Toyota. The Sienna's engine seems a lot noisier and less responsive. The Sienna had quite a good turning radius though! If neither was plagued with problems, I'd choose the Ody.

Maybe by the seat-of-the-pants feel it's not so thrilling, but i think I remember reading on Edmunds the Sienna scoots to 60 in about 7 seconds, which is pretty hot for a minivan. The Odyssey takes closer to 10 seconds.

Yeah. I wanted the the SE (mostly for the revise front fascia work) with AWD and that's not possible.

I nearly got run off the road by a swagger wagon last night. Jerk was not paying attention I guess and was in the wrong lane when the highway split into 2 different roads. He came over at the very last second, forcing me to move to the right to avoid him. He'd have turned right into me if I hadn't moved. Then he continued to be one of those annoying people who vary their speed for no reason....70, to 80, then down to 70 again. WTF.

Sorry, just venting some annoyance.

Anyway....it's not bad looking, but there are some odd styling parts. For one, the rear end is rather flat and looks like one huge slab, and the headlights really protrude out, which annoys me.

^ which is annoying because of the fact that this minivan is able to do those moves. It's one thing when you see a minivan attempt and fail miserably because they're so cumbersome and slow. but when you have an athletic one it changes everything.

Lightbulb Cr

It's generally accepted that every new iteration of any vehicle is somehow better than its predecessor. And that's true of the 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan, which is festooned with more goodies (like a 16.4-inch widescreen monitor for rear-seat passengers) and a sportier flair (complete with a sporty SE trim) than the previous generation Sienna. The only question that remains, then, is this: Do those improvements automatically equal a better vehicle?

According to Consumer Reports, the answer is no. And surprisingly, it's not even close, with the new Sienna's overall test score of 80 paling in comparison to the 2010's overall score of 94. The main culprits cited by CR for the plummeting score are poor fit and finish and excessive interior noise – bad enough that CR claims it's not possible to have a proper conversation between front and rear passengers.

So, if not the Toyota Sienna – which held the honor for 3 straight years – what is CR's top-rated minivan? The 6-year-old Honda Odyssey. For what it's worth, there's a new Odyssey coming out next year, but as we've seen from the Sienna, a new model doesn't necessarily equal one that tests better at the influential magazine. It's also worth noting that the new Sienna's overall score is roughly on par with that of the Kia Sedona, which has been available in its current configuration since 2006.

Consumer Reports also tested other people movers, such as the micro-minivan Mazda5 and the large box-on-wheels crossover Ford Flex. Both vehicles got rather positive reviews, and testers found that they may be looked at as realistic replacements for the tried-and-true minivan paradigm of the Toyota Sienna. Check out the official press release after the break.

the new sienna is trying too hard. the standard version looks weird with its front and rear end; plus, the interior dash is just plain ulgy with no flow at all! the SE trim is a joke. reminds me of the good old siennas in the 90s that wanted the VIP look but succeeded in only looking like RICE! i take the odyssey touring any day of the week.

Post 2015 Toyota Sienna Remix

Press release...

The Sienna is famous for being the perfect vehicle for family road trips, hauling the kids to soccer practice and the weekly grocery restocking ritual. And thanks to West Coast Customs and SiriusXM, the Sienna can add rocking a party to the aforementioned list.

“The Sienna:Remix celebrates the large part that music plays in our lives, at all stages,” said Toyota Engagement Marketing and Motorsports National Manager, Steve Appelbaum. “It also reinforces our message in the ‘Swagger Wagon’ campaigns — that the life-changing role of being a parent doesn’t mean the end of fun as we know it. It’s more fun with more family members added to the mix,” he continued, “and that’s when the Sienna’s power sliding doors really come in handy.”

To keep the surprise factor, the exterior of the Sienna:Remix is fairly close to factory. Custom mesh wheels, blacked-out grille and color-matched emblems give a subtle hint to what’s in store. Hit a few switches and the Sienna:Remix shows its true intentions in a series of motorized reveals that leave spectators stunned. A 360-degree A/V column consisting of two 40” LCD monitors, four 12” subwoofers,16 speakers and two LED bars rises out of the roof like something out of the latest installment of “The Transformers.” The trunk opens revealing not bags full of organic groceries, but a fully functional DJ booth including eight more speakers and plug-in access to the beastly audio system. Hiding inside are five amplifiers and two 32-band equalizers, giving the Sienna:Remix both ample power and sound quality to make this year’s PTA fundraiser the hottest spot in town.

The Sienna:Remix can be seen November 4-7 in the Toyota display booth (#24700) located in the Central Hall at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

I'd be open to getting a hybrid van. The city MPG in my 2017 Sienna sucks. I have an RX450h and love the 30MPG city.
My only concern is the hybrid in Sienna gets the inline 4. The 6cyl in my RX gives it plenty of power.

2021 Sienna: First look by Motor trend

https://www.motortrend.com/cars/toyo...t-look-review/

It's actually not that bad looking at all. I'm mostly okay with the looks except for a few areas. Kind of looks like a Highlander. The 4 cylinder bothers me too.

The 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan is many things: technologically advanced, fuel-efficient, and well equipped. Beautiful? Not so much.

Marking the model's first redesign since the 2011 model year, the fourth-generation Sienna trades its forebear's boxy and upright looks for more modern wares. Despite its more contemporary design, Toyota's new minivan is not attractive in the conventional sense. Blame a mishmash of styling details that lack any sense of cohesion.

Penned by its California and Michigan design teams, Toyota's latest Sienna boasts a front end inspired by the mug of Japan's Shinkansen bullet trains. High-mounted, swept-back headlights pair with a large lower grille to give the Toyota people mover a distinct if hard to love face.

The same goes for the van's side surfacing details, which include overstyled rear haunches that blend into a set of Supra-esque taillights. Those rear lamps, meanwhile, frame a busy-looking tailgate, replete with an integrated spoiler that protrudes beneath the rear glass. (Toyota credits a molded resin production process for the feature.)

Whether the new Sienna's disparate design is worthy of carrying on its predecessor's self-proclaimed title of "swagger wagon" is a matter of personal taste. (Or is that marketing persistence?)

Swagger Wagon! Part Deux

Look, Honda went weird with the Odyssey in 2018, and the brand's minivan did not seem to suffer for it. That's because most minivan buyers don't shop for looks, but practicality. The Sienna's real sense of swagger comes not from its design but from its powertrain, which forgoes segment norms by ditching the prior model's V-6 engine for a gasoline-electric hybrid setup. With a total of 243 horsepower, the van's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors are down 53 horses compared to the old 3.5-liter V-6.

In this case, less power leads to greater fuel efficiency, and Toyota estimates the 2021 Sienna sips a gallon of fuel every 33 miles in combined city and highway driving. That's 12 miles per gallon better than the most efficient 2020 Sienna and 3 mpg ahead of the 260-hp Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in its gasoline-electric drive mode.

SEE ALL 18 PHOTOS
Unlike the six-cylinder Pacifica Hybrid and its 16.0-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, though, the Sienna's smaller battery pack lacks plug-in capability. Although the Sienna offers an EV mode that allows it to travel short distances at low speeds on electricity alone (there are also Normal, Eco, and Sport driving modes), the Toyota van's EV driving capabilities fall far short of the Chrysler's EPA-rated 32 miles of electric-only range.

What the Sienna lacks in emissions-free driving capabilities, it makes up for with its 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity. That sum matches the figures put up by V-6 competitors such as the Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona. It also handily trumps the Pacifica Hybrid, which is "not recommended" to tow. That said, the standard gas-swilling Pacifica's 3,600-pound towing capacity remains the segment's best.

Furthermore, an available motor mounted on the rear axle allows Toyota to once again offer the Sienna with all-wheel drive. In certain situations, such as accelerating from a standstill, as much as 80 percent of the powertrain's available grunt comes courtesy of the rear motor. The addition of all-wheel drive to the 2021 Pacifica, however, means the Sienna no longer serves as the lone minivan option that pushes power to all four of its wheels.

Comfort King

Like its Avalon, Camry, RAV4, and Highlander stablemates, the Sienna uses a variant of the Toyota New Global Architecture platform (TNGA-K). The rigid structure promises noticeable improvements to the minivan's handling and ride quality while also allegedly reducing interior noise levels.

SEE ALL 18 PHOTOS
A quieter cabin is far from the only enhancement to the Sienna's innards, and the van welcomes a new-look dashboard that includes a standard 7.0-inch gauge cluster display and 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Additionally, the dash now formally connects to the van's center console, which houses the shift lever and myriad storage cubbies, as well as an open area below for holding larger personal items.

"People driving minivans feel like they are driving a bus," Kevin Hunter, president of Toyota's Calty Design Research, Hunter said. "We wanted something more personal. So we redid the interior, dash, and center console." Middle-row passengers benefit from additional stretch-out space courtesy of the Sienna's available and appropriately named "Super Long Slide" bucket seats, which provide up to 25 inches of fore and aft adjustability. The second row also includes integrated footrests on higher-spec Sienna models. Notably missing from the van's middle row, however: fold-into-the-floor seats like those of the (non-hybrid) Chrysler Pacifica. Lower-spec Siennas, meanwhile, trade the extra sliding ability of the Super Long Slide buckets for a second-row bench that raises overall seating capacity from seven to eight and includes a middle section that folds into the floor when not in use.

Safe And Sound

Available in LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum trims, all 2021 Sienna models come standard with advanced safety and convenience features such as automatic front braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, lane centering, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and power sliding doors.

SEE ALL 18 PHOTOS
Of course, Toyota still incentivizes buyers to move up the trim level ladder by reserving options like kick-activated power sliding doors, a power liftgate, front and rear parking sensors, and an in-dash navigation system.

Likewise, Toyota reserves the coolest and kitschiest features for the high-end Limited and Platinum trims, which offer heated/ventilated front seats, a power tilting and telescoping steering column, and a built-in vacuum. The flagship Platinum model also adds a refrigerator, a 10.0-inch head-up display, and a 360-degree camera to the mix.

Although Toyota remains mum on pricing details for the 2021 Sienna, the company's decisions to fit a gasoline-electric powertrain as standard equipment and add to the model's roster of safety and convenience features are sure to raise the van's base price. Given that the new Sienna does away with the outgoing van's $32,760 L trim, it's likely the redesigned model's starting sum will match—or come close to—the $35,580 Toyota charges for the 2020 Sienna LE. In other words, expect the 2021 Toyota Sienna's cost of entry to straddle the line between those of its V-6 counterparts from Chrysler, Honda, and Kia, and the gasoline-electric Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

I'm glad to see this has been addressed already. I find this new Sienna to be GORGEOUS!!!! What other company brings such blatant styling cues from their flagship sports car to their MINIVAN!?!?!

And oh yeah, Motor Trend can suck a big bag of hammers.

Rugged performance is the theme of the roaring ’20s, so I suppose it was only a matter of time until we got a minivan that at least pretended to be rugged. Toyota has taken the new Sienna, which already comes standard with all-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain, and slightly increased the ground clearance, added a tow hitch, roof rails and tossed in its optional 1500-watt AC inverter in the cargo area to create what you see here: the Sienna Woodland Special Edition.

You could say the AWD system already made the Sienna a worthy recipient for this treatment, and the things Toyota gave its minivan beyond that are mostly niceties. Like other Siennas, the Woodland is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, with an electric motor driving the rear wheels on demand for a total of 243 horsepower. The Sienna will send up to 80 percent of overall torque to the back “seamlessly and transparently,” depending on conditions.

But you can get that in any Sienna. What you can’t get in other Siennas — from the factory at least — is the Woodland edition’s hitch. The Sienna’s 3,500-pound towing capacity makes it ideal for hauling a four-wheeler or personal water craft, Toyota reminds us. The press release doesn’t tell us by how much Toyota raised the Sienna’s ride height, but that might give you some added peace of mind when hitting the odd dirt road with the family.

Otherwise, the majority of the Woodland’s tweaks are subtle and cosmetic, and play into that rugged vibe. Exterior badging is all black, the leather-trimmed seats now tout a “unique stitch color” that adds gold accents to the gray-and-black upholstery, and you get 18-inch wheels. Inside, there’s a JBL 12-speaker audio system with 1200 watts of power, along with navigation. For each Woodland purchased, Toyota says it will donate $250 to the National Environmental Education Foundation, with a minimum donation of $250,000 already pledged.

The Sienna Woodland seems like a clever marketing move to capitalize on the craze for overlanding these days. Still, I can’t help but think Toyota should have gone just a little further. Six years ago, the company brought a Sienna sitting on a Tacoma chassis to SEMA, which obviously left an impression on me because that’s still the first thing that comes to my mind when I visualize an “off-road minivan.”

The Woodland, on the other hand, looks like a regular old Sienna with more black trim and a ground clearance hike so slight that you need before-and-after photos to notice. I know the Tacoma thing was a bit aspirational, but maybe Toyota could’ve played up the adventure angle with more aggressive cladding and chunkier rims and tires, like Subaru’s done with its new Wilderness line? Just an idea.
