Pistonheads.com says this is the next Supra:
TOYOTA TO TAKE ON NISSAN 350Z? - - Source: Pistonheads.com
TOYOTA TO TAKE ON NISSAN 350Z? - - Source: Pistonheads.com
New 330 bhp Supra to be lightweight, distributed 50:50
Toyota will blast back into the sports car market in 2006 with an all-new Supra – and a ground-breaking MR2 replacement could follow.
The Japanese giant is jostling with Ford to become global number two – and that's without a major sporting push.
Until now.
The Supra coupe has broken cover at the Nürburgring, along with an MR2 lookalike. The Supra – which bowed out of dealer showrooms in 1996 – will largely follow its predecessor's blueprint. That means a front-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive and a six-pot powerplant. At launch the Supra will run a naturally aspirated V6, displacing 3.5 litres. Peak power is pegged at around 330 bhp, transferred to the tarmac via a six-speed 'box.
As the spec suggests, the Supra will clash head on with the 350Z. And like the Nissan, the Supra could be sold as a drop top too. If given the green light, the roadster is set to adopt an SC430-style folding tin top.
There's still some work to be done on the chassis, though. The prototype seen here is based on a cut down version of the new Lexus GS platform – but sources say engineers aren't yet happy with the dynamics. If the chassis doesn't come up to scratch, the Supra may get its own bespoke underpinnings. Either way, the aim is for 50:50 weight distribution and an impressive 1,200 Kg kerb weight, thanks to the use of lightweight materials including aluminium and perhaps even carbon fibre panels.

Lexus going exotic? - - Source: Autoweek
Lexus is using the Detroit show to showcase a departure from its cushy, luxury image in the form of its LF-A sports car concept, featuring V10 performance and a design that will signal a new direction in styling for Toyota’s Lexus brand.
The car we caught testing recently (and shown in these photos) now looks as though it was early engineering mule of the LF-A. The car is said to have a 500-hp, 370-lb-ft V10-mill under the hood, weigh less than 3000 pounds and to be able to hit a top speed of 190 mph. Pricing will be in excess of $100,000 for one of an estimated 12,000 that Toyota/Lexus plans to produce.
Lexus will also show a refreshed version of its GX 470 luxury and an RX 330 Thundercloud limited edition appearance package.

that is one ugly and i really do mean UGLY car. There will be some people that would buy a lexus for 100k, but very few. THere is no way that they will sell 12k a year. Any person in their right mind would rather have a bmw or benz for that price range

I'm sure it's performance numbers will outweigh any shortcomings in the exterior design elements.
Shame they got rid of the straight six though...that was a sweet engine, sounded awesome & had gobs of low-end torque.

This is turning out to be like the NSX. Too much fucking hype and all of it is contradictory and/or unlikely. From what I've heard, Toyota's put this car on the backburner while concentrating on their other models, so... I don't see why it's making this much news these days.
