Camry tops 4-way V6 comparo on Edmunds:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=109710
1 - Camry XLE V6
2- Honda Accord EX V6
3- Hyundai Sonata LX V6
4- Ford Fusion SEL V6
The new V6 model dusted the competition in the acceleration race.
And if it were for the 4-cylinder models, I don't think the order would be any different.

First, it must be said that the V6 Accord's total score was only a fraction of a point behind the all-new 2007 Toyota Camry. Where the Camry excelled in performance, the Accord did so in feature content. Where the Camry was strong in our 24-point evaluation, the Accord was better on price.
Both earned identical scores on our personal and recommended ratings. It was that close. Considering the Accord's four-year generation gap, it deserves high praise for faring as well as it did against its all-new nemesis.

I don't think Honda's going to respond lightly with this threat from Toyota (which IMO will probably be the best Camry ever). I think they will go with a 3.5L. They said without Honda, Acura could not be. So they'll have to put worrying about stepping on the TL's toes on the #2 spot in their list of things to do. #1 priority is Camry.

These midsize cars don't need extra HP. Hell, I drive a 4-cylinder 2006 Accord EX and it has plenty of power for what the car is. Putting this much HP and Torque in a FWD family sedan is just silly IMO. There is a reason why the 4-cylinder versions of these cars make up the vast majority of sales as this is more than enough engine for these cars.

With the anticipation of parents watching their child win a spelling bee with the final letter, we watched the Camry's point total edge out the Accord's by a 0.64 margin. Despite what this might indicate, there really was no dispute regarding which of these four cars should win the comparison

Whoopee Gilbo. The new Camry has 4 years of development/technology on the Accord. No surprise that the Camry won.

give Granny that V6 in HER Camry, and you'll only be seeing those snazzy taillamps!

Game over. Toyota had about 5 new Camrys at the auto show and they were all mobbed by onlookers waiting to sit and feel the interior. Interior quality surpasses that even of the Accord. The faux wood looked authentic (though I don't like the yellow color). In base models those panels remain plastic, which look bare, but still very good quality. Roomy inside, I really couldn't discern how much bigger (if any) the interior volume is over the old Camry. But wow I was very impressed.

game over? indeed it is over. good job toyota, 5 years later and you finally have a nice interior. the 7g accords interior blew away the old camry's. of course they had to do something. but i don't understand this "game over" stuff. is it similar to "honda has to step up now"? step up to what? can't say much until the new accord comes out next year. same deal with the cr-v and rav4. it finally catches up to the cr-v in size and suddenly it's game over for the cr-v. i can't stop laughing when people post things like that.

And I was more impressed by the Sonata's interior materials than I was with the new Camry's at the Detroit show.

I must be the only one that thinks the new Camry is totally hideous. I'm also unimpressed by auto makers stuffed 250hp+ V6's in FWD mid-sized sedans. When does the new Accord come out? :/

The mid cycle refresh just happened, so yeah at least 2 more years with the current Accord. I'm concerned for Honda, though. It won't take much to make the Accord better...but I'm afraid they might pull something weird like the Civic's dash or repeat the taillight debacle.

So are you saying you wnat the new Accord to have less tha 250hp?
#425
Think its to the point were these new cars can only get marginally better than their previous gens. If the new Accord were to have a huge gain in quality etc, it would be an Acura. Think the major part to a restyle is coming up with an attractive design that impresses people rather than huge engines or materials that are very high quality..

i would love to see 'civic' like accord. a current design failed. almost none of think it's a great design. and civic interior is cool!
i love camry's rear and interior, but still not used to the front. probably never will.
sonata looks great in person especially the rear, but interior still needs work. i wish sonata had azera's interior. but then people won't buy expensive sonata yet.

it's all about the material.
too bad they don't offer these in america. i've sat on these, and it's 10 times than the u.s version. they need to bring the navis and all the other goodies sooner or later to compete with the big boys.

Toyota Recalling Camry - - Source: The Car Connection
The newest edition of the Toyota Camry is being recalled for a problem with the transmission. The problem, Toyota says, involved only a half-percent of Camrys built thus far for the 2007 model year. The new six-speed automatic transmission could lose second and sixth gear during operation. Toyota told Reuters the vehicle still will operate even if the gears are lost, and that the problem usually happens within the first 500 miles of use.

Anyone who compares the Honda issue to the Toyota and leaves out the fact that Toyota addressed it in WEEKS! vs Honda which took years...
If your going to compare owning a vehicle based on problems... which manufacturer would I rather be with? one who ignores the issue or one who acknowledges it and produces a fix in a timely manner.

As much as I hate agreeing with Siggy,
