I'm an Apple nerd, so I'm used to hype.

Elon Musk talking about CO2 and how it's bad, global warming, yadda yadda yadda. Just show us the fscking car already.

No, he is not. But I get him...his brain is working a million miles an hour and his mouth can't really keep up. He isn't a showman.

Looks good! Like a smaller S. The one on the left with 5 spoke wheels looks hot.

Orders in last 24 hours are 115,000. They'd better get cranking.

Like the increase in the amount of accidents because people are too busy playing with their cars rather than driving them

Nope.

Given that all the current LA population already cause plenty of accidents (I will leave the races alone ), given them bigger screen won't matter with further distractions.

Looks like Tesla came down in its zero to 60 estimate. 6 seconds zero to sixty puts it square in the middle of the $35,000 car range.

The front is ugly. I know it doesn't need a grill...but it needs a grill, or something.

Not in love with it, but not bad.
Will have to wait to see more coverage on it & see it in person to know for sure.

The base car is the only $35,000 car for the masses. That's the point.

To get a fast one will likely approach the $60,000 ceiling.

Elon doesn't spend days prepping his announcements. He says he's too busy for that, he makes up some bullet points and then goes on stage and wings it mostly and you can tell.

Yeah it's still weird seeing a car without a grill, it looks like a baby Model X to me.

It is a concept right? Tesla could very well incorporate a grill by production time??

That interior .

Only Apply or Tesla could release a product that sparse and boring and have people messing their pants about it...

If I made something that looked so half-finished, I'd be told I "gave up" and "stopped caring".

File me firmly in the unimpressed camp.

you would think that it still needs a grill to cool the AC condenser? and it would help with Aero??

i'm sure something will be there...

Do they use a traditional Freon based AC system or some sort of fancy Peltier system? Seems like that would be the way to go when you're driving around in a box full of batteries. Wouldn't need forced air cooling like a normal car and they could get away with a bigger heat sink that I'm sure is already designed in.

It still has an air intake under the not present conventional grille. The car still needs cooling air for the AC, battery cooling, etc...just not nearly as much air as a combustion engine intake and cooling system need.
