Quite simply this is stunning piece of modern vehicular design. Stainless steel exoskeleton, giga castings, structural battery pack, drive & steer by wire, 48v / 800v architecture, and many more.
It's the lightest full size truck, in fact the tri-motor version weighs less than the Rivian truck (which is another stellar modern EV by itself) - benefits of exoskeleton design and structural battery pack. The pricing has put off many customers but this is currently on par with the rest of industry. Due to the huge waitlist and demand, it's a no brainer for Tesla to do it this way. As predicted, people are warming up to the design of Cybertruck. The comparison with Hummer EV showed the massive technology gap GM has with Tesla. Ford is in no better position. Rivian is the only truck even remotely competitive with Cybertruck though it's smaller and has a conventional design. Lucid Gravity hasn't launched yet, so we'll see. Cybertruck is destined to succeed. It will reshape the American pick up truck industry. Cybertruck is the most technologically advanced vehicle currently in the market. Can't wait for what the next few years will bring. |
1.) Lucid Gravity is not a truck.
2.) The CT is a technological marvel. There are so many things about it that are absolutely game changing. 3.) Too bad it's hideous and that's what will put off a lot of people more so than the tech stuff. 4.) Because normal buyers don't really care about the tech stuff 5.) The Hummer EV is meant to be a status symbol, not a great car. It's not a great car on or off road. It sucks at both. 6.) Definitely does not have an exoskeleton. Still has a normal unibody underneath even if the panels are strong. They are not load bearing panels. 7.) Your normal American truck buyer isn't going to buy this thing or the Rivian. They will buy the F150, Silverado, or the Ram. Probably the Ramcharger because range extender. 8.) Rivian's design is only "traditional" as it pertains to shape. The drivetrain, construction, inside, and functionality isn't anything like a traditional truck. 9.) People are not warming up to the design, it's ugly. 10.) This will sell like hotcakes for a bit until the fanbois all get them, then sales will taper FAST. 11.) Because, see #3. |

If I were buying today: R1T, Lightning, Ram, in that order. The rest likely wouldn't get consideration. CT & Hummer, too ugly, and I don't care for how the GM EV looks either. |
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The main reason buyers will hesitate is its current price. Even Tesla fans are postponing the decision due to price.
All I will say is they will sell as many high priced ones in the first two years (for early adopters) and then only RDW. Hopefully prices will come down afterwards. This is a full size truck, with multiple cutting edge technologies, using a heavy stainless steel panel for its exterior, but somehow lighter than all other trucks. I don't know what's @SamDoe1 your definition of exoskeleton is. Would you consider Starship as Exoskeleton? (It also has a frame inside BTW) :D |

Personally I love how polarizing the CT is. I love the people hate it. I love that it looks like it came out of Bladerunner. I'd have a hard time choosing between it and Rivian (and maybe a ram charger).
The biggest reason I'd pass on another Tesla at this time is Elon...but after having a competing EV as my rental for the last month....road tripping and charging is bullshit if it's not Tesla Supercharging. So, we'll see what happens when all these other makes start putting that plug on their cars. |

The price of the Founder Edition includes a ton of optional items that cost extra on the base truck (and some of which can't be had at all) - all of which can be seen in the second photo of the first tweet. It's not just special badging for $20k. |

In what likely was an attempted PR stunt on Monday, some genius took a pre-production Cybertruck “Release Candidate” into Southern California’s Stanislaus National Forest, down the Corral Hollow Trail, and took it well off the trail to gather a downed Christmas tree. Unfortunately for the Tesla employee involved, the truck couldn’t make it back up the hill to the trail, and needed to be rescued by a passing Ford F-series. Oof. |

In today's shocking news from Tesla, the Cybertruck doesn't meet claimed range estimates!!!
Estimated range: 340mi (lol) CT dual motor Actual range: 250mi :rofl: So much for outstanding efficiency, even the Rivian (dual motor, AT tires) gets 290mi on a full charge. |
